I’ve just had what I consider to be a momentary glimpse, a trailer, a preview of the space of the Father.
Though brief, it was a genuine moment of seeing, a peak moment. I neither want to overplay nor underplay it. I learned much from the experience.
After it had passed, I found myself being pulled into such a deep quietude that it was difficult to write.
Archangel Michael was right to say that if we plumb the deeper spaces, we won’t want to write. (1) Or we won’t be able to.
What actually happened was that the moving picture I’m embedded in suddenly stopped. Wham!
I had to choose in that moment the absolute stillness I was in or reject it and choose to re-start the movie. I chose to stay.
Everything that was moving – and had to move to exist – suddenly dissolved into air all around me.
The Father is the only “thing” unchangeable, immoveable, and transcendental. Both illusion and reality were revealed.
“I” continued to exist no matter what happened inside or outside. I imagine that that which was moveable about me also dissolved, leaving just my “I.”
As long as “I” remained perfectly still, I remained in touch with the space. And then something intervened and it disappeared.
I was awestruck. I couldn’t believe what I had discovered. The Father is the space of absolute stillness.
And then I began to see the space of stillness in my everyday experience. I’d just ignored it as nothing special – a passing moment, feeling distracted, being tired. But it was something special. Those wisps of stillness are windows into the Transcendental. Like bliss and love and peace, they have to be acknowledged for stillness to expand and spread.
Let me comment on the cosmic aspect of this kind of experience, the mystical side.
Movement is associated with the Mother and her domain. Stillness, such as I briefly experienced, is associated with the Father and his domain.
The Mother and the Father are two Divine Persons of the Trinity.
The third is the “I” that continues to exist at all times – me, us, the Child (Son) of God, the Christ, the Atman, the individuated God, the participant/observer. Even death would not stop the “I” from participating and observing.
I, the eternal participant/observer, was briefly handed off by the Mother from her domain of matter (mater, Mother) to the Father and his transcendental domain.
In that fraction of a second in which the moving picture stopped, form became formless again. The material dissolved into the transcendental.
That was the event that my 1987 vision depicted and pointed to, only the experience depicted was a much deeper variety than what I experienced today.
Nevertheless, for a brief instant, the reunion was experienced and known. (2) The small golden star had rejoined the large Golden Sun if even for a second. The Child of God had returned to God, even if juuuusstttt temporarily.
As peak moments do, this one whet my appetite to meditate and let go of everything. It fanned the longing for liberation, the thirst for God. Beside it all other desires paled. I think this must be a celestial intervention.
The experience left few traces beyond the renewed desire for God. If I hadn’t written it down immediately, I’d probably have no memory of it by tomorrow. No, in half an hour. I rushed to get the experience down and it’s just as well because already there are details I cannot remember.
I also know that in thinking about a planned five-day retreat a week or so from now, I’m having trouble keeping the walls of the dam from crumbling. This brief glimpse contributes to that structure tipping and tottering. We have to be daring. I have to let go. But if I do, my fear is I won’t remember anything.
Meanwhile, what did I learn?
I learned that there is only One. The One plays all parts. Any duet – any conjoining activity or effort with anyone else – is in reality, and always will be, a duet of One. (3)
And the signature of it, the feel of it is love. God = Love = One.
If there is only One, if only One exists, we must be that One. All of us, with no one left out – we are that One.
