I’m waiting our commentators to report in on President Trump’s speech Tuesday (today).
But I do want to draw attention to a Justice Department press conference that also happened today, in which an operation of very large proportions was announced to find out who was responsible for the violence at the Capitol Building.
This is not the kind of response we’ve been used to from the FBI and the whole tenor of the presser seemed to announce that this is a new FBI.
(Press conference starts at 15:15)
Moreover, the department acknowledged that they planned to arrest those responsible on minor charges and then expand the case.
But isn’t that also what they’re doing with the entire investigation? Start with the middle-level criminals, go up the ladder, and charge those at the top with serious crimes.
In this case the serious crime is sedition, conspiracy to overthrow the Government of the United States.
The operation is going on across the United States. The department promises to leave no stone unturned. This is not the FBI we’ve become used to in which most stones are left unturned and we never hear of the investigation again.
They seem to be describing a large dragnet that will end up with some well-known political names.
In other words, this was by no means either a minor announcement or even a special operation. This, which is just one initiative that’s going on right now around the world, could very well be a game-changer.
