May I suggest that you watch these days for the “mirror effect” (1) – people who are behaving immorally or criminally and accusing the people who oppose them of the crimes they are themselves guilty of. Gov. Newsom here accuses Republicans of having “California Derangement Syndrome,” reversing charges against the Democrats of having “Trump Derangement Syndrome.”

Many people leading busy lives may simply buy what their leaders say.

World leaders consider this the oldest trick in the playbook. Listen to see how often it’s used.

There is no personal responsibility in it and, without that, precious little “decency.” I want decency back.

No, it’s not true that Antifa won a Nobel Peace Prize. Antifa is a decentralized, anti-fascist political movement without a formal structure or leadership that could qualify as a recipient under the Nobel Committee’s criteria for the Peace Prize, which honors individuals or organizations for extraordinary efforts in fostering peace, democracy, or human rights.

The 2025 Nobel Peace Prize was awarded yesterday (October 10, 2025) to Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado for her nonviolent leadership in challenging authoritarianism and promoting democratic elections in Venezuela. This is the first time a Venezuelan has received the award.

Historical Nobel Peace Prize records also show no connection to Antifa. The only tangential historical link is a satirical 1939 nomination of Adolf Hitler by Swedish parliamentarian Erik Gottfrid Christian Brandt, an antifascist who intended it as mockery of appeasement policies—not a serious endorsement, and certainly not an award to any anti-fascist group. No prize was given that year.
