And now come the accusations and allegations of election fraud. Thanks to Kathleen and Len.
I don’t see how a candidate who could not attract enough listeners to fill a pub could overturn a candidate who attracts large audiences. Something is not right here.
The Issue
Call for an Independent Inquiry Into Federal Election Irregularities
Petition Statement:
We, the concerned citizens of Canada, believe that recent irregularities and credible allegations of misconduct during the 2025 Federal Election undermine the integrity of our democratic process.
We call upon the House of Commons to:
- Immediately launch an independent public inquiry into the administration of the election;
- Investigate all reports of voter suppression, misinformation, fraud, and other violations of the Canada Elections Act;
- Improve the transparency and oversight of Elections Canada;
- Introduce stronger legislative safeguards to protect the fairness of future elections.
- Mandate transparent reporting of investigations related to electoral integrity, with results made public.
- Require third-party audits of election results in any ridings where irregularities or unethical conduct are alleged.
- Establish a permanent, non-partisan Election Oversight Committee accountable to Parliament, to provide regular reviews and safeguards for federal elections.
- Commit to reviewing and updating the Canada Elections Act to close any loopholes that allow foreign or unethical interference in campaigns or voting processes.
- Review and clarify the Canada Elections Act and related legislation to ensure that voting rights in federal elections are extended exclusively to Canadian citizens, as currently stipulated, and that this provision is upheld with consistency and transparency.
- Consider legislative amendments that would introduce additional eligibility criteria for newly naturalized citizens, such as a minimum period of residency (e.g., five years) post-citizenship before being eligible to vote in federal elections, with the aim of reinforcing national cohesion, civic understanding, and informed participation.
- Evaluate the potential for a temporary suspension or deferral of voting rights in federal elections for new immigrants or recent arrivals who have not yet obtained citizenship, while maintaining full compliance with the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms and international obligations.
- We call upon Parliament to initiate a constitutional review of Canada’s federal electoral system, specifically to explore the feasibility and democratic implications of instituting a dual-ballot process—one for electing Members of Parliament to represent individual constituencies, and a separate, direct vote for the selection of the Prime Minister. Such a reform would require careful legal consideration in light of Canada’s parliamentary system of responsible government, in which the Prime Minister is traditionally selected from the party commanding the confidence of the House of Commons.
- We also urge a formal review of the current first-past-the-post system and its correlation between popular vote share and seat distribution in the House of Commons. This includes examining the ethical and democratic fairness of single-member plurality voting in light of discrepancies that may arise between the national popular vote and the allocation of parliamentary representation. The objective should be to assess whether the current method adequately reflects the will of the electorate or whether electoral reform—such as proportional representation or ranked-choice voting—should be considered to enhance representational equity
We believe Canadians deserve to have full trust in their electoral system. Democracy must be protected, and every vote must count—free from manipulation, coercion, or fraud.
And a discussion of Mark Carney’s misdeeds:
