The Trump Effect is rippling through the entertainment world. Those who insist on remaining with the politicization of the news, talk shows, etc., are finding the going getting tougher.
Talk is being backed by lawfare, the precedent having been set by the former administration. Only, the penalties being sought are enough to cripple a network.
The fall from grace of the talk show, The View, seems to me like the fall of the deep state in microcosm.
And Karoline Leavitt’s handling of the situation, which this well-narrated video (below) gives evidence of, breathes hope into the dreams of a return to “civil” civil discourse.
Karoline revealed Whoopi Goldberg’s modus operandi – interrupting guests, keeping control of the questions, mocking them, etc.
She called Whoopi on her hypocrisy in defending free speech but not giving her guests a chance to respond to her questions.
It was as if Whoopi and her audience shared a secret – that they already knew that Republicans were losers and they were just having some fun with them.
We see this often in westerns, don’t we? Shoot at the gringo’s feet and make him dance?
As far as I can see, there’s no “View” here. There’s political demolition of an opponent disguised as entertainment and edification.
The View seems to have led the way in politicization.

From all that I’ve seen, corruption appears pervasive in our societies, on both sides of any aisle … it’s corruption that has to go, not the corrupt person.
Perhaps you were like me. Until the election of Donald Trump, I didn’t see how it would be possible to turn our situation of social devolution around.
But as I watch formal and informal members of Donald Trump’s team – and his international allies – really dig into the work of turning it around, I feel hopeful, inspired, invigorated.
We can actually do this, I say to myself, if we stay together and stay the course.
Postscript: Whoopi is alleged to have fled the country, no reason given. It’s probable the mounting lawsuits were the reason.
