Trudeau Promises ‘Fentanyl Czar’ and US-Canada Organized Crime Strike Force To Avert U.S. Tariffs

OTTAWA, Canada — Under the looming threat of U.S. tariffs—framed by officials as a response to deadly fentanyl trafficking linked to Chinese precursors rather than a conventional trade dispute—Canada has moved swiftly to appease the White House.
This afternoon, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, in a post on X (formerly Twitter), announced the appointment of a “Fentanyl Czar” alongside a $1.3 billion border security plan. The initiative includes new helicopters, advanced surveillance technology, additional personnel, and closer coordination with U.S. agencies to stem the flow of fentanyl.
“I just had a good call with President Trump,” Trudeau wrote. “Nearly 10,000 frontline personnel are and will be working on protecting the border.”
Trudeau also outlined plans to designate cartels as terrorist organizations, implement 24/7 surveillance, and launch a Canada–U.S. Joint Strike Force targeting organized crime and money laundering. He signed a new $200 million intelligence directive on fentanyl, asserting that these measures helped secure a 30-day pause on proposed tariffs against Canadian goods.
The announcement follows President Donald Trump’s imposition of sweeping new trade penalties: a 25% tariff on exports from Mexico and Canada and a 10% duty on Chinese goods. While those levies took effect two days ago, Trump has now granted Mexico a one-month reprieve—on the condition that President Claudia Sheinbaum deploy 10,000 soldiers to the northern border to crack down on fentanyl trafficking and illegal migration.
In exchange, senior U.S. officials—including Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick—will negotiate with their Mexican counterparts on a long-term solution before tariffs are reinstated.
Trump emphasized that Mexico’s forces were “specifically designated to stop the flow of fentanyl and illegal migrants,” stressing that cross-border cooperation was essential in tackling what U.S. authorities call a national drug crisis.
Markets initially tumbled over fears of an escalating tariff war among the world’s largest economies but rebounded on news of the temporary reprieve for Mexico and Canada. Now, both governments face a critical deadline.
CBP Memo Reveals Cartel Members Are Deploying Weaponized Drones for Potential Use Against CBP Officers (VIDEO)

Cartels at the southern border are reportedly escalating violent threats against U.S. border and law enforcement officers, with social media posts encouraging violence and the authorization of weaponized drones for use against border officers.
Copies of recent memos sent to U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers detail the threats on social media, NewsNation reports.
Additionally, officers are warned that the cartels are expected to use drones armed with explosives.
This news comes as Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth recently said, “All options are on the table,” when he was asked if the U.S. will use military force against the cartels in Mexico.
As The Gateway Pundit reported, President Trump also sent a message to “all who would attack Americans” on Saturday, stating, “WE WILL FIND YOU, AND WE WILL KILL YOU!” after announcing precision air strikes against ISIS in Somalia.
“This action further degrades ISIS’s ability to plot and conduct terrorist attacks threatening U.S. citizens, our partners, and innocent civilians and sends a clear signal that the United States always stands ready to find and eliminate terrorists who threaten the United States and our allies, even as we conduct robust border-protection and many other operations under President Trump’s leadership,” Hegseth said following the execution of the airstrikes indicating strikes on the cartels could be considered.

DHS Secretary Kristi Noem Says Guantanamo Bay “Will Hold The Worst of The Worst” – Tren De Aragua Ringleader Caught “Trying to Buy Grenades”

(Excerpt only.)
Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem spoke about the Trump Administration’s plans on Sunday to detain violent criminal illegal aliens at Guantanamo Bay “before they are returned home to their countries to deal with.”
This includes aliens wanted for “murders, rapes, assaults, gun purchases, drug trafficking,” and even one gang member who was “trying to buy grenades,” says Noem.
As The Gateway Pundit reported, President Trump announced plans to lock criminal illegal aliens in Guantanamo Bay as they await deportation to their home countries.
The facility will be able to hold up to 30,000 people who are in the United States illegally.
“We have 30,000 beds in Guantanamo to detain the worst criminal illegal aliens threatening the American people,” the President said.

Noem explained who will be held in Guantanamo Bay pending repatriation flights in an appearance with NBC Sunday morning.
“This President has said that it will hold the worst of the worst that we are going after those bad actors,” Noem said.
“We were going after people that had warrants out for their arrest on murders, rapes, assaults, gun purchases, drug trafficking. In fact, we had a member of TDA [Tren De Aragua] that was one of the ringleaders that we picked up that that week had been trying to buy grenades.”
Noem: Due process will be followed, and having facilities at Guantanamo Bay will be an asset to us, and the fact that we’ll have the capacity to continue to do there what we’ve always done. We’ve always had a presence of illegal immigrants there that have been detained. We’re just building out some capacity.
So, we appreciate the partnership of the DoD in getting that up to the level that it needs to get to in order to facilitate this repatriation of people back to their country. So, remember that Guantanamo Bay, clearly by this President, has said that it will hold the worst of the worst that we are going after those bad actors.
This last week, I was in New York City. We were going after people that had warrants out for their arrest on murders, rapes, assaults, gun purchases, drug trafficking. In fact, we had a member of TDA [Tren De Aragua] that was one of the ringleaders that we picked up that that week had been trying to buy grenades.
These are the types of individuals that we are targeting, we’re removing from communities and that could end up having a stay at Guantanamo Bay before they are returned home to their countries to deal with.

Ukraine can’t find $100 billion of $177 billion sent them.
President Trump called for a stop of aid to Ukraine until an audit can be done on all funds given the Ukraine, and a few days later, that corrupt little dictator Zelensky claims he can’t find $100 billion dollars.
