The urban monk is definitely asserting itself as I look around me at this nearly-bare apartment.
Most of the apartment is empty space. And I want it to stay that way.
My best preparation for the Reval is to divest myself of as many Third-Dimensional desires as possible before the Reval hits.
I think of my life immediately after the Reval as being lashed to the mast.
Not like Odysseus, who lashed himself to the mast to hear the song of the sirens and survive. (1) The song of the sirens is the call of our Third-Dimensional desires.
I don’t want to hear the sound of my Third-Dimensional desires. I want to be detached from as many of them as I can be by the time the tsunami of abundance hits.
I want to lash myself to the mast by making myself proof against the second tsunami of desire, following the first – all the pent-up demand that will happen after the Reval. To resist being swept away will require intense vigilance.
Certainly having my living situation totally handled as it has been is one mammoth and persistent desire taken care of. No moving into a large penthouse overlooking English Bay after the Reval. I’m happy where I am. And I want to stay that way.
I’ve been talking about buying a 2007 Volvo XC70 Stationwagon after the Reval. But I see now that I don’t even need that. I can take a taxi and might be well advised to do that anyways.
Simplify, simplify, simplify, I hear whispered in my ear.
Complexity challenges the quiet mind. And the quiet mind is what allows discrimination to operate.
In my view, calmness will be a virtue in high demand after the dam of abundance breaks.
Calmness comes from subordinating all other desires to serving the Mother.
Footnotes
(1) Succumb to our desires and we die; i.e., as long as have unfulfilled desires we must be born again and again. Until now.
Odysseus lashed himself to the mast so that he could hear the song of desire and not yield to it. Those who yielded to the siren song lost their minds and crashed up on the rocks. They died; that is, they remained subject to reincarnation.
