I’d like to extend the sincere appreciation of all of us here to all of you for your kind and generous support in our recent fund-raising.
On that subject, let me bring you into the picture on two changes here at the blog that will be coming.
Subscription Campaign
The first change is that we’ll be ending our monthly appeals as of this month.
When we began our subscription campaign, it was believed that the Reval would be coming within weeks. That was some time ago and that outcome has not eventuated.
It was never intended that we continue with our subscription campaign forever.
It’s time to move on and to work with what you’ve so generously gifted us with.
We still have before us the problem that only half the blog’s expenses are covered. Something has to to be done. And that’s the second matter I need to discuss with you.
Remedial Measures
Remedial measures must be taken. Anyone who can find a job has been asked to do so. Those who cannot will be supported by your generous gifting. Please don’t end it. It’s the glue that’s holding the structure together.
Of all the editors – some of whom are parenting, others living in rural areas, etc. – I’m the one who can most easily get a job and so I’ll be doing that.
I’ve ceded the money that I would have received from your donations to the other members of the team and, in a short while, I’ll go out and find a job to replace that income. Probably menial. Probably dishwashing. Nothing fancy.
My doing so has consequences. I won’t be able to maintain the daily publishing schedule I’ve kept up since the blog began six years ago. So unfortunately you’ll see less of me.
The other risk is that my consciousness will inevitably shrink. How much is the question. I may reach the point where my writing no longer represents me and I may decline at that point to post, becoming an administrator instead.
All this compensating will go away after the Reval but for now there’s no other way to make up the shortfall, hold the team together, and keep the blog going.
I apologize for any diminution of service that that brings and ask you to please hold the faith. This is what we need to do to survive these last remaining weeks and months before prosperity and continue to provide our service to you.
The Banner
While I’m here I’d like to mention the matter of the banner. After a recent change at their company, the designers of our banner asserted that they retained the copyright for it and didn’t want it used any more.
Rather than dispute the matter with them, we let go of the banner and reverted to the original 2012 Scenario design.
People have questioned the relevance of what I regard as our mascot – the little UFO in the picture – and I acknowledge that it isn’t as relevant now as it was six years ago (I’m just fond of it). But to redesign the banner might take significant funds and we don’t have that kind of money right now.
So a redesign will have to wait for the Reval. I apologize that the banner does not live up to the glory of the title, The Golden Age of Gaia, and I ask you to bear with us if you would.
I thank you all for your generous support of the blog over these months and years. We remain very hopeful that funds will arrive from a White-Hat source (prosperity packages, historic bonds, private donor, etc.) that will end our financial need and the constant stress that goes with it.
Until they do arrive, we ask for your support as we continue to explore, as we have been doing for many months now, what we need to do to continue to produce a credible and informative galactic and celestial news source for you.
