Folks, there’s a drama going on behind the scenes, which I need to draw to your attention.
Several very prominent websites have been hacked or hit by viruses. Some dinar guru sites have been hacked. Some channelers have been hit. A virus took down Linda Dillon’s husband’s computer with 30 years of her material on it. And most recently Rumor Mill News lost 300,000 posts to attack.
We have backed up our site and our new IT guru, John Wood, is working away day and night to repair holes, fill gaps, and ward off new perils so that this site does not go down and our past files are never lost.
We’ve entered a new age of Internet threats. Not only are they happening in a seeming wave, but they’re constantly morphing and increasing in severity. Linda was hit by ransomware: they were held ransom and needed to pay a lot of money to get the key that would unlock their files. If they hadn’t done that in three days, their files would’ve been destroyed.
So, while we’re in the Golden Age, some people are still in the Stone Age in some respects. Gosh, if they only knew what an opportunity they were losing out on. They should read the blog instead of trying to destroy it.
What this means is that the age of volunteer IT gurus is over for us. We need a fully-enabled, fully-available professional like John, for whom this is at least one of his accounts, though not his full-time job. And that’s just one of the expenses that arises in an environment of Internet hacking and viruses. (Sophisticated software, server space, all kinds of things.)
So just add that to your awareness in light of Karen’s appeal today. Doing what we do here, never mind our hardscrabble existence to provide this service, costs money to ward off the attacks of those determined to bring us down or profit from our misery.
Thank you for assisting us.
