Matt Kahn: The Heart of Ascension, July 1, 2014, https://www.TrueDivineNature.com
Matt Kahn has been putting out some videos that are very popular in the Golden Age of Gaia discussion group. Many of us agree that his way of explaining what he’s talking about is both phenomenal and extremely clear. His down to Earth way of discussing spiritual subjects and his quirky sense of humor have made these videos a pleasure to spend time listening to.
This is his latest video, The Heart of Ascension, with some excerpts, below. These excerpts are some of the points he makes, which I feel are worthy of comment and consideration. My comments are interspersed with the excerpts from the transcript.
First, Matt explains that his words really aren’t the most important facet of the ‘transmission’ he gives. He is giving an intuitive transmission of ‘Presence’, and the words are like the window dressing on this energetic flow of information we can feel. He’s asking us to follow the feelings we have in order to anchor us into flow of our own lives and experiences, which will result in the experience of being in harmony.
He goes on to talk about one third of the planet now waking up actively, and he calls this the first wave of Ascension. These first wavers are those he says comprises his audience. I’m thinking, that’s us, folks.
Harmony is the ‘cornerstone’ of Ascension.
“When you let your feelings guide you, and when you let life tell the tale and bring you everything you need, you tend to be in the flow of something called harmony. When we’re trying to fast track – short cut – our life, at a different rate of speed than life is unfolding, we tend to experience disharmony.”
“And the reason I talk about harmony is because harmony is the cornerstone… of what we know of as Ascension…”
The path of surrender is at the heart of Ascension, and giving up vs. willingness to change.
“The heart of ascension is a path of surrender. And it’s very important. [I’ll} talk about surrender because it’s a very misunderstood topic, very misunderstood. Widely debated. Easily misinterpreted. If the heart of ascension is the path of surrender, what does it mean to surrender?
“…when life doesn’t seem to go your way, you get on to it, and you go, Okay, I surrender. Have you ever noticed that after you say I surrender, life doesn’t change? …You think… it’s like an Olympic sport, you say the magic words and the bells go off, the lights turn on, here comes a parade of angels… You won! You said the magic words!
“Oh, I hoped that would happen. I surrender! I surrender. I let go. I will let God. There is no doer. Thy will be done. Hasta la vista, baby. Right? Whatever! You said, I surrender, and you’re waiting for the big prize. And nothing happens.
“This happens to teach us the reality of surrender. Because what happens is [when] we do that — I surrender, nothing happens. And so we go, Okay. I must need to do this repetitively. I’m going to do this all day. I’m just going to keep surrendering, and then surrendering becomes this repetitive process. I mean, you think you have to keep surrendering, and we still kind of missed the point of it.
“Because most people think of surrender as I give up. But how can surrender be I give up in a world that requires your full participation? That doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. Because most people, when they give up, they think they’re giving up control, right? I give up. But what they usually give up is the will to participate. And that’s not surrender. That’s called resignation. That’s called withdrawal, apathy…So, surrender isn’t about giving up, because this life requires your full participation.
“The path of surrender takes you from fearing change to having the self-worth to know that you’re worthy of change. And when you are what I call a surrendered heart, you are not lost in a superstitious mind-set that either relies on change for comfort and fulfillment, or fears change as the reason why everything feels so limiting. Instead, change becomes the one thing that in most moments life is inviting you to do.
“Sometimes people say, I surrender. I give up. But you know what they really are giving up? They’re giving up their right to change, which is the opposite of surrender.
“When you surrender, you surrender into change… It’s a different way of talking about it, but it makes it more functional. Because if we’re going to talk about spirituality, it has to be in a way where it makes sense for our lives. Gone are the days where we can have a really deep esoteric conversation, and we leave this room and it has no application in your life. The most important teachings are the ones that you can apply to your life immediately.
“So we’re not trying to surrender our ability to change; change is what we’re surrendering into. We’re surrendering into welcoming change as the most beneficial gift you can give to the world, and the most immediate needs to transform everything in your life.”
Surrendering into change and the ego.
“What is life asking of you? To change.
“… It’s very simple. Without an ego, there’s no discussion. That’s basically what no ego means, no discussion. If there’s an ego, life gives you a direction, and you want to have a conversation about it — which is wonderful! Right? You want to be briefed on the details…
“… And when there’s no ego, it [life] gives you a direction, it’s time for you to change again, and you’re totally fine with it.
“So that’s what no ego means. No ego means nothing in the way of changing… And not the clever change where it’s… I’m open to change when I think it’s going to make things work more in my favor… Not the calculated change.”
Calculated change, which is more truly a function of the ego, rather than the actual path of surrender.
“…Uncalculated change. That’s the measurement of no ego. Calculated change, ego loves that… The five-year plan? The ego loves that one. The five-year spiritual plan? Even better. Ego can even turn ascension into a five-year calculated plan.
“So, no ego means nothing in the way of changing. And the path of surrender is your willingness to constantly change as a catalyst of transformation, that simultaneously brings new energy into your life, simultaneously uplifts your vibration, as well as puts energy into the fields of everyone around you, to transform life for the well-being of all.”
How the willingness to embrace change plays out energetically.
“So, at the rate at which you change and transform and expand, you’re putting energy out for all to change and transform. You’re going to be the first one that changes, but over time the world’s going to reflect back to you the energy you’ve been putting out. And the energy you put out is through your choices.”
How our choices are very important in transmuting and changing our field of collective consciousness.
“So it’s as if the reason we actually have choices is because choices have a vibrational scale, and the choices that are more courageous and more of an embodiment of your highest wisdom are going to infuse higher vibration into your field, and put higher vibrations into the field of consciousness. And the more you put powerful choices into your life, the more life will start reflecting back to you that vibrational frequency of energy.
“So, if you think about it, it’s kind of like the energy behind choices is like a… it’s like an energetic 401K. I’ll explain it this way… everyday you’re making choices and you’re investing new energy into your field, and over time life will reflect back to you that energy… The more money you put in your 401K, supposedly, the more money it makes for you… For all intents and purposes. Energetically, the same thing. The better the energy you put into the field, the more that energy comes to you.”
He makes it plain that we’re talking about all our choices, and not just some of them.
“But it’s not just the energy of how you look and react with other people. It’s the energy of the choices you’re making in the situations you’re in. Because the path of surrender, in that, life’s going to put you in situations where you’re going to constantly change, to inspire growth and expansion for the well-being of all, constantly putting new vibrational frequencies into the field, allowing people in the field to reflect back how often you’ve made those deposits.
Willingness to change brings us out of duality of extremes. This willingness to change is making it possible to ‘gift’ our higher vibrational energy to all beings.
“When we enter the path of surrender, we go from either relying on change to feel fulfilled, or avoiding change out of a fear of loss. And we wake up out of those two extremes, and we find change as the most invaluable gift you can give yourself. The most invaluable gift you can give yourself is the willingness to change. And like I said, when people over-spiritualize surrender, they think surrender is letting go of the ability to change, which is not what it is at all.
“…Because, remember, no ego means nothing in the way of change. …if the central theme of surrender is your willingness to change, you’ll surrender your desire for certain changes… to surrender your avoidance of other changes, and to surrender into the willingness to change, so that you can bring higher vibrational energy into the field as a gift for all.”
The change life is asking for is to change the nature of our relationship with everything.
“…What’s the main change that life is always asking of you? … that change is to change your relationship with the life that you view.
“It’s not like a reward and punishment thing where you’re not doing something. …that’s how it’s taken. That’s why people surrender, and they let go of their choices, because they think that an opportunity to change means they’re not doing something right. So they take it as a judgment…
“… If I need to change something, it means I was doing something wrong. Whereas the way the universe looks at it, as, you’re doing so well, let’s keep changing to raise the bar to the next level. See, it’s not about your doing something wrong. It’s not correcting you. It’s inviting you to the next level of evolution…
“…there’s this weird judgment where we think change is a judgment that I’m doing something wrong, where in fact, that’s what we tell ourselves. And we fool ourselves into seeing that when life says it’s time to change, it’s not a parent admonishing a child, it’s the universe congratulating you, and welcoming you to the next level. How’s that for a shift of perspective?”
“So when life says Time to change, it’s Look what I won, not Look what I’ve done.
“And the main change is changing your relationship with life. And all the different relationships, whether it’s between you and your own heart, between you and co-workers, people at work, your lover, your family, whatever, these are all relationships.”
In essence, we are all One, so this shift in relating is one that affects All of us.
“And of course because we’re all one at our essence, changing your relationship with the difficult people and characters in your life is really changing your relationship with yourself. And whether you realize that or not doesn’t really matter. Because life is going to constantly ask you to surrender into changing your relationships, not because you’ve done something wrong, but because it’s an opportunity to go from doing something right to doing something even more right.”
This shift in perspective and relation to everything takes us out of avoidance and into acceptance, another crucial step to Ascension.
“And when you are changing your relationship with life, the primary journey… is the journey from avoidance to acceptance…
“And I want to talk about acceptance today, because it’s another misunderstood term. Like surrender, acceptance is way misunderstood. A lot of times people think acceptance means, I’m going to pretend to enjoy what hurts… Like, if you think your day was ruined by something, I accept that. Basically what someone is saying is I’m trying to accept that. You can feel it in your body when someone’s trying to accept something because… no one can believe it. The only person that tries to believe it is the one pulling it off, and not even they can believe it. They’re just trying.
“What does acceptance really mean? Acceptance means, I acknowledge my individual experience, without needing to re-frame, without needing to shift into a different perspective — Oh, but if I look at it from this perspective… Don’t. Don’t look at it from any other perspective. Just be in the one you have. Don’t try to trade your perspective like kids trying to trade their lunches. Don’t trade at all. Just be in your perspective… Acceptance starts with, My experience seems to be this has happened, and it’s caused me to feel this way.”
Acknowledging our humanness and the way it is for us is the beginning of true acceptance.
“So acceptance is a way of saying acknowledge your natural experience. You can’t acknowledge your natural experiences if you’re trying to deny it, or get away from it, or over-spiritualize it. So, acceptance is, I acknowledge, here’s how I’m feeling, here’s what I’m thinking, here’s what I’m conspiring, here’s what I’m planning. That’s what acceptance is, acknowledging your experience.
“Because if you don’t acknowledge your experience, what state are you in? You’re in the state of denial. So how do you come out of denial? Acknowledging what is happening. But you don’t have to like what’s happening. You just have to acknowledge what’s happening. And if you don’t like what’s happening, acknowledge that. Oh, this is happening. And I really don’t like it right now. Don’t like it at all.
“That’s acceptance. Because you’re not denying. because if you deny, you’re going to repress all these emotions, and they’re going to wind up coming out and being projected onto someone in a completely unrelated moment. And then you’re going to be like, Why did I do that? Because that’s what happens. Whatever you repress, you’re bound to express. That’s why they say, The truth shall set you free.”
Acknowledging our divinity is the second part of acceptance.
“There’s a second part of acceptance. The first is acknowledging your humanity. Be a human being. A human being is already the highest… aspect or the highest expression of divinity. So, a human being is not less than divine, a human being is proof of the divine’s highest expression. When this highest expression comes into full bloom, and its divine fragrance starts to express itself through this being… in a willingness to change, [and change] does not tempt or torture the being that emanates this beautiful fragrance, then spirit is on full display.
“So in the beginning, your willingness to be an individual is celebrating the divine in its highest form. And if the divine wants to dress up as a human being and respond to something it can’t control in the play of life, with anger, sadness, depression, then we acknowledge that. God doesn’t break character, so why are you? God doesn’t break character at all.
“God loves being in form. And when you merge back into your Source, you will return to the divinity that loves being in form. And then you will love being in form as well. And the more you love being in form, the more you free others who are not having a good time yet, just by being who you are.”
Acceptance leads to knowing that in the larger reality, everything is coming to us as a catalyst to elevate our vibration.
“And when you accept your humanity, and when you come into acceptance, which is acknowledging how you feel, no matter when it is, it takes us to the second level of acceptance. The second level of acceptance is that acceptance really means that no matter whether it’s coming your way as a circumstance, as an outcome, no matter what is going on in your life, … that it was not created by chance by the characters who are playing this out. That everything in life is orchestrated by a larger spiritual reality that only brings into your hologram, into your field, the very experience that triggers the emotion that you are being asked to be more comfortable with welcoming, as equally as you welcome all of the emotions that you prefer to feel.”
Our emotions reflect our vibrational alignment and our interplay with the everything we encounter as the catalysts of evolution.
“So it’s as if every emotion is like a flash card, an energetic flash card, and you are constantly practicing with the universe to hone your skills and to elevate your vibration. And you will be put in any situation, you will encounter any kind of variety of experience and any kind of outcome which, in the play, will look like the actions and reactions of characters. If it wasn’t for them, this wouldn’t have happened. That’s the movie.
“But the only reason why something happens in your life is at the very moment it triggers a certain feeling that tells you that’s the next feeling in line for you to welcome… and you don’t have to like it, you don’t have to love it, you can hate it if you want! But the acknowledgment is that whether I like it or hate it, whether it’s convenient or inconvenient, I accept that this was only created as a catalyst for my highest evolution, created by a greater spiritual force of reality, to help me make peace and come to terms with feelings that seem uncomfortable, so I can learn to relate to them as openly as the feelings I prefer, even though they don’t feel like the feelings I prefer.”
We are learning to honor everything equally, and without judgments, as expressions of spiritual reality.
“We’re learning to change our relationship with the things in view. We may not like sadness, we may not like depression, we may not like anger, but we learn to welcome it into our heart with as much respect as we would happiness, joy and enthusiasm. As if every feeling, every emotion, every thought is a color that is vital in comprising the appearance of a rainbow. There are colors you love and there are ones that you may despise, but even the most despicable color must be present in order for the rainbow to be. Equally, every feeling, thought, experience in the totality must exist in order for this to be. Without one, this could not be.
“So acceptance is accepting that everything is to be respected as a manifestation of a spiritual reality that is only here to help you grow into higher levels of spiritual consciousness at the rate at which you’re willing to be honest about how you feel; whenever discomfort, agitation, frustration or unsuspecting outcomes of adversity come your way. “
All of life is being created by the divinity within, all of life is a gift and a catalyst for growth.
“…it’s surrendering into the acknowledgment that this was brought to me by a spiritual reality, by my true nature, by the divinity within me [that] has orchestrated this moment for this outcome to be. And I am feeling this way, … I can say this is the next thing for me to accept, as the next catalyst of my evolution for me to get comfortable with this feeling. Even though it doesn’t feel like happiness, even though it may not feel like joy, can I start to welcome it as an equal gift, as equally as potent of a gift as happiness and joy? It’s not going to feel the same, but it deserves the same respect.
“And when you realize that the feelings that get triggered as a result of outcome are there for you to allow yourself to be as equally willing to accept those as the ones you prefer, that’s what it means to do the spiritual work. That’s the real spiritual work.”
Through the powerful work of true acceptance, all blame and judgments fall away.
“You’re constantly transforming your relationship, constantly welcoming what’s coming your way. There’s no interest in blaming people for situations because they didn’t do anything. They’re just reading from a script and they’re following what the director told them to do, because the director knows how to help you grow, because you’re the director. And not the director that says, I wouldn’t have created that! That’s not the one directing it. That’s the actor thinking they’re the director. Not the same thing.
“The you that’s doing all of this is not doing it with a personality or an ego. It created all of this prior to time, and you don’t remember creating it, because you weren’t in a body. And now you’re in a body trying to create. Why not just enjoy what’s been created? And why not surrender into the acceptance that everything is a manifestation of divinity, helping you to end your judgment of, This is better than this; this is less than this; this is good; this is bad; this is light; this is dark?”
Releasing our relationship with judgment, releases judgment from the collective field as well.
“Life is trying to end your relationship with judgment, because you are inter-connected to the totality of all. And at the rate at which you change your relationships with emotions, and release judgments out of your field, what’s the likelihood that it starts to release out of every field simultaneously? So we’re not just doing work for our individual fields; the work on our individual fields is actually all fields.
“It’s not yours. It’s your individual experience of the total, collective field. You are individually putting energy into the field to inspire the entire field to change its relationship with emotions by how openly you welcome things. And you have to let honesty guide you. If you don’t like it, admit it. This feels terrible. I hate it. I wish it would go away. But it could only be a manifestation of the divine. It could only be a catalyst of my highest transformation. It can only be here for me to welcome it so that as I welcome it I lighten the load for others and help those that can’t help welcome it to find some peace…
That’s acceptance. So there is no, I’m trying to accept. Acceptance is acknowledgment: This is from the divine…”
