Chicago Mayor Signs Order to Block Possible Troop Deployment
Mayor Brandon Johnson directed city agencies not to aid federal immigration crackdowns and urged President Donald Trump to ‘stand down’ from sending forces.

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson has signed an executive order authorizing “immediate, drastic action” to respond to what he said could be a looming military deployment by the Trump administration to the city.
“I am signing an executive order that directs all of our City’s departments to protect Chicagoans and not collaborate with federal overreach,” Johnson said in an Aug. 30 post on X.
At an Aug. 30 press conference, Johnson added that his order “affirms” that Chicago police will not “collaborate with military personnel or civil immigration enforcement.”
The mayor’s order bars city police from assisting federal agents in immigration or joint patrols, calls on federal officers to identify themselves and wear body cameras, and directs city departments to explore legal and legislative steps to resist federal actions. It also urges President Donald Trump to “stand down” from deploying troops.
“We will not have our police officers, who are working hard every single day to drive down crime, deputized to do traffic stops and check stops for the president,” he said, adding that, “we do not want to see tanks on our streets.”
The move comes after Trump said Chicago would likely be the next major city to face a federal crime crackdown.
Trump, who has already deployed troops to Washington, has cited a federal statute allowing such actions and said the National Guard could “solve Chicago within one week.”
“After we do this, we’ll go to another location, and we’ll make it safe also,” Trump told reporters inside the Oval Office, referring to his efforts in Washington to crack down on crime. “Chicago’s a mess. We’ll straighten that one out probably next. That will be our next one after this. And it won’t even be tough.”
The president added, however, that he would not move forward without a request from Democratic Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker, who has rejected the idea.
“Mr. President, do not come to Chicago. You are neither wanted here nor needed here,” Pritzker told reporters at a press conference in Chicago.
“This is not about fighting crime. This is about Donald Trump searching for any justification to deploy the military in a blue city in a blue state to try to intimidate his political rivals.”
Trump responded on Truth Social on Aug. 30, “Six people were killed, and 24 people were shot, in Chicago last weekend, and JB Pritzker, the weak and pathetic Governor of Illinois, just said that he doesn’t need help in preventing CRIME.”
“He better straighten it out, FAST, or we’re coming!”
Trump officials have also signaled stepped-up immigration enforcement in the city.
Border czar Tom Homan told NewsNation on Aug. 28 that “a large contingent” of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers would be sent to Chicago. He did not say how many.
Likewise, Homeland Secretary Kristi Noem told the same outlet a day earlier that an elite specialized tactical unit within ICE would be deployed to Chicago “soon.”
In 2024, Chicago was the nation’s murder capital, with 573 homicides, according to data compiled by Wirepoints, an independent Illinois research organization.
Other Democratic lawmakers have expressed opposition to National Guard deployments in Chicago and other cities.
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) rejected Trump’s suggestion that he could deploy National Guard troops to Chicago or Baltimore, calling it an effort to “manufacture a crisis” as reported crime has fallen in both cities.
“There’s no basis, no authority for Donald Trump to potentially try to drop federal troops into the city of Chicago,” Jeffries told CNN’s State of the Union on Aug. 24.
Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser said on Aug. 27 that crime has decreased since Trump deployed National Guard troops to the city and took federal control of the local police department almost three weeks ago.
Bowser told reporters during an update on the enforcement surge that in just 20 days, the number of carjackings had fallen by 87 percent from the same period last year.
“We know that when carjackings go down, when the use of guns goes down, when homicide or robbery goes down, neighborhoods feel safer and are safer, ” Bowser said. “So this surge has been important to us for that reason.”

Florida has already emerged as one of the most influential Republican states in the country.
Now, state leaders are preparing to lock in that dominance with a new redistricting plan that could fundamentally alter the balance of power in Washington.
High-level sources inside Florida’s legislature confirm that lawmakers are moving forward with a proposal to redraw four additional congressional seats ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.
The move reflects Florida’s rapid population growth, which continues to reshape the state’s political map. The redistricting effort is centered on key urban and suburban population centers, specifically around Orlando, Tampa, and parts of South Florida.
These areas have absorbed hundreds of thousands of new residents in recent years, many of whom migrated from deep-blue states like New York, California, and New Jersey.
Ironically, that migration has fueled the Republican surge, as conservative-leaning families seek refuge from high taxes and rising crime.
Currently, Republicans hold 20 of Florida’s 28 congressional seats, giving the party one of its strongest state delegations in the House.
Adding four new Republican-leaning districts would push that margin even further, potentially sending 24 Republicans to Washington from a single state.
For Democrats, who are already struggling to hold their narrow coalition together at the national level, such a development would represent a devastating setback heading into 2026.
Florida’s plan is not occurring in a vacuum. The state is projected to gain four to five additional congressional seats following the 2030 Census due to its explosive population growth.
That would give Florida close to 35 seats in the House, making it the third most powerful state in congressional representation behind only California and Texas.
In electoral college terms, this would further tilt the national map toward Republicans, as Florida’s electoral votes would climb from 30 today to as many as 34 by 2032.

Where is Nikia Monique Thompson hiding? All indications, including from Letitia James herself, are that Thompson is hiding out at Letitia’s “mortgage fraud” home in Norfolk, Virgina.
This means that Letitia James herself could be charged with harboring a fugitive. And, because it involves interstate flight, James could be subject to federal harboring law which carries up to 5 years in prison
As detailed on Sam Antar’s White Collar Fraud website, Letitia James co-signed for a mortgage for a property located at 604 Sterling Street in Norfolk, Virginia, alongside her niece, Shamice Thompson-Hairston in August 2023.
Despite being a permanent resident of Brooklyn and New York State Attorney General, as part of this transaction, James executed a notarized Power of Attorney (POA) which included a sworn declaration stating, “I hereby declare that I intend to occupy this property as my principal residence.”
William Pulte, Director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency, cited this declaration in an April 14, 2025, letter to U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi, alleging that James may have falsified bank documents and property records to acquire government-backed loans with more favorable terms, since her “primary residence” declaration was instrumental in securing lower mortgage rates.
In addition, James’s 2011 HAMP loan that I covered in The Gateway Pundit was also cited by Pulte for investigation.
On May 21, 2025 while speaking before the Association for a Better New York, Letitia James attempted to deflect the growing controversy over her criminal referral to the DOJ by claiming her motives were purely familial.
“In reality, the power of attorney was never used to determine my eligibility for a mortgage for my niece for a home in the state of Virginia,” James said. “My niece has children, and because I’m a good aunt, I wanted her to have a home.”
But as I detailed in The Gateway Pundit in Crime Runs in the Family! Letitia James Buys Home for Niece’s Jailbird Adult Kids, James’s explanation, that she is a “good aunt” merely helping her niece and her children, was misleading. The “children” whom James’s statement implied were minors, are both adults, and both have significant criminal histories.
Nakia Monique Thompson has a criminal record spanning 20 years in the states of Virginia and North Carolina, and include multiple convictions for contributing to delinquency of a minor, abuse of child, possession of burglary tools, third degree larceny, assault and battery, trespassing, shoplifting, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, possession of marijuana, driving with a suspended license, and even malicious conduct while incarcerated.

The Trump administration is putting illegal aliens on notice: taxpayer-funded housing is for AMERICANS, not for those who broke the law to come here.
On Friday, Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Scott Turner announced that all Public Housing Authorities (PHAs) nationwide have 30 days to conduct audits verifying the legal status of every single tenant in Section 8 housing and other HUD-funded programs.
The first housing authority to face scrutiny is Washington, D.C., where Turner confirmed that the DC Housing Authority has already been put on notice, according to Fox News.
More than 3,000 PHAs across the nation are receiving the same marching orders. If they fail to comply, Turner warned, they risk losing federal funding.
Turner revealed that only 1 out of 4 eligible American families currently receives HUD assistance due to past administrations turning a blind eye to illegal alien abuse.
In a blistering letter to every Public Housing Authority (PHA) in America, Turner laid down the law: within 30 days, all housing agencies must provide a full and complete accounting of every tenant living in HUD-funded housing.
That means names, mailing addresses, number of bedrooms, the cost of each unit, and most importantly, proof of American citizenship or legal immigration status.

The letter reads:
“Today, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is taking another direct and forceful action to steward taxpayer dollars wisely and end the subsidization of open border policies in HUD-funded programs and policies.
Within 30 days of receipt of this notice, HUD is requesting that every Public Housing Authority (PHA) provide a full and comprehensive accounting of all tenants who are receiving a Section 8 voucher and/or residing in HUD-funded housing.
HUD is requiring the name, mailing address, number of bedrooms, the cost of the unit, and proof of American citizenship or eligible immigration status as defined by the law. This information is required by law and this administration is upholding the law to its fullest extent.
No longer will illegal aliens be able to leave citizenship boxes blank or take advantage of HUD-funded housing, riding the coattails of hardworking American citizens.
Currently, HUD only serves one out of four eligible families due, in part, to the lack of enforcement of prohibition against federally funded assistance to illegal aliens.
HUD will leverage all available enforcement actions against entities who do not comply with the request for citizenship information, including, but not limited to, examination of HUD funding and/or evaluation of PHA program eligibility.”
