Love is the only thing I can think of – save God, which is the same thing – which is not caused by anything outside itself. It is unique, in a class unto itself and follows its own rules.
One of its rules is that it must flow, as Michael reminds us:
Archangel Michael: Love is a fluid energy. It has need to flow and so when it does not flow it becomes… Well, as you put it, it be can become dry and brittle. It has need to be given and received above, below, within, without and in every which way. (1)
We get to experience it as it flows up from our hearts and out to the world or our intended recipient:
AAM: Love is the energy of the universe. It is the energy of the Mother. And it moves constantly, continually, eternally, infinitely. So, to have an experience of love, it [must move] through you. (2)
For me, this is what it means to love another person: To call the love up from my heart, experience it as it passes through me, and will it to go to another or the world.
Where to find love is no mystery. We’re designed such that we’re to seek love in our own hearts, in the artesian well of love that exists there.
A second rule seems to be that it won’t flow in a circumstance of partiality. Love is universal by its very nature. There is no right or wrong in love, no good or bad; only the ever-beckoning exquisiteness of this kind of love.
Just as the Mother forgives everything, (3) so love only always beckons us on, never-minding the past, just evolving, evolving, evolving back to reunion with Mother/Father One. (4)
It’s only we that travel that journey pulling along a large gunnysack of regrets and resentments. Love does not require it. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised to find love awaiting us as soon as we drop that purely-optional burden.
Love drifts by us in little wisps. We experience them and put it down to some triggered moment – a pleasant recollection perhaps – and move on. But if we recognized them for what they are (“Oh, you’re LOVE”) they blossom and fill us up.
Or we can ride that wisp of love to the Mother lode, so to speak. Either way love awaits the open and receptive heart and rewards it beyond belief.
