If we think about duality for a minute – good/bad, right/wrong, etc. – and we’re just trying to describe the territory rather than the causality – everything can be seen to exist on a spectrum.
The extremes we can label “negativity” on the one hand and “positivity” on the other, except that there are many more spectra than just negative/positive. And center in the middle, where things come to rest.
We can use this simple device (I’m going to add “Date:” and “Issue:” to mine – see bottom of page) to track where we are with things over time or to create a three-dimensional model of our strong likes and dislikes, attachments and rejections.
Taking positive/negative as an example of a common spectrum we use, what can we see that’s undesirable in all extremes?
For one thing, the cloud of anger or hatred, or whatever the negative emotion is, blankets and obscures the entrance to the heart. Krishna once said, and I paraphrase, fools walk blindly by me, there in the heart where I reside. (2) One way that dwelling place is obscured to us is by our fiery cloud of anger.
The heart is a higher-dimensional portal. When I entered that portal on March 13, 2015, I later found out that where I landed was in the Seventh Dimension – that is, in what I came to call “transformative” love. (3)
I called it that because, when I’m in it, negative emotions cannot get near me. It transforms the circumstances, rather than being reduced by them. It has many other qualities that make it the most wonderful experience we’ll ever have – just deeper and deeper.
If it were ordinary, 3rd-Dimensional love and anger that arose? The love would depart, vacating in favor of the anger. Not so, transformative love.

I’ve also noticed about myself that I have the ability to call in a blanketing cloud of lethargy when I don’t want to think about or do something. (4) I notice here as well that anger or hatred, when they arise, also blanket my consciousness, but in a different way.
They shut out the good impulses; they bar entry, whereas lethargy just obscures them like a thick fog and I forget they ever existed.
But, returning to my theme, as long as we’re seeing, thinking, and speaking dualistically, we speak from a spot on a spectrum.
And, since we want outer peace to which inner peace is the best path, as the sages say, we can use this device to see and measure where we fall on any one spectrum. And we can then match up various spectra and get a picture of where we are with different matters.
It’s all intuitive, inner events. But inside, where physical eyes cannot see, is where all the action that we’re looking for happens anyways.
Where am I on the spectrum between extreme liking and extreme loathing on the issue of the environment? Freedom of speech? Money?
I know, having grown up in a family in which there was domestic violence against my Mother, that, on the issue of violence towards women, I am off the charts negative. Trafficking children? Unreasonably, totally negative. That all makes sense to me, given my background.
However I’m also off the charts enthusiastic about higher-dimensional love, at the other end of the spectrum. Is that not an attachment? Will I have to give up love?
Evidently not. Remember what Krishna said:
“I am all that a man may desire
Without transgressing
The law of his nature.” (5)
Since God is love, I extend that to mean: Love is all that humans may desire without transgressing the law of their nature. That becomes a a puzzle to someone on the awareness path – something to explore, test out, and see if it fits. The truth realized sets us free from some limitation.

Fine and dandy. But what about the center? In the center of the body lies the spiritual heart. It’s a portal to all higher-dimensional realms, which, as of now, we can only visit if we can match the vibrational level. (6)
The “heart” is what lies on the other side of the heart door (usually known as the hridayam). On the other side of that door – that is, when the heart opens, as ours will in the Ring of Fire – (7) we’re swept clean by a tsunami of love, which leads to an Ocean of Love, all of this (for me) on the Seventh. (8)
It just so happens that none of this is possible until we relinquish our attachment to extremes and “settle into being,” as Sri Ravi Shankar once said, in the still and silent center.
But that’s only part of it. That’s only preparation, not completion.
The other side of it – completion – is about delivery. If I’m correct, these events are sent to us by our archangel and guides.
Michael said I received the heart opening because I asked for it, was priming the pump with my breathing exercise, had created the inner space to hold it, and one other factor which is private. But behind him saying this is the implication that he himself bestowed the experience on me based on these very calculations.
We have an expression – “gift of the gods.” In my view, enlightenment truly is a gift of the angelic realms. (9)
In the meantime, locating all thoughts, feelings, and actions on a spectrum, identifying the extremes should help folks on the awareness path not only to identify their states of consciousness, but also to construct a model of their likes and dislikes, leanings towards and away from, attitudes, triggers, etc., as well as how things have shifted over time.
I don’t know if this will prove helpful. I’ll find out myself. It probably will lead to new insights. That’s usually the way it works.

(1) Culture whether considered as a class of phenomena or a continuum, consists of ideas, manifest in act and artifact, though consisting of neither, by means of which humans take account of their world and take purposive action. All those ideas can be classified in many ways for study. The way I’m looking at here is to catalogue according to my reaction to them.
