Mexican drug cartels are reportedly worried about their futures with Donald Trump in the Oval Office.
According to a seemingly sympathetic report from the New York Times, the cartels are expressing fears that their business model is at risk because of the Trump administration’s crackdown on drug cartels.
The report states:
One cartel leader says he’s trying to figure out how to protect his family in case the American military strikes inside Mexico. Another says he’s already gone into hiding, rarely leaving his home.
Two young men who produce fentanyl for the cartel say they have shut down all their drug labs.
A barrage of arrests, drug seizures and lab busts by the Mexican authorities in recent months has struck the behemoth Sinaloa Cartel, according to Mexican officials and interviews with six cartel operatives, forcing at least some of its leaders to scale back on fentanyl production in Sinaloa state, their stronghold.
The cartels have sown terror across Mexico and caused untold damage in the United States. But here in Culiacán, the state capital, the dynamic seems to be shifting, at least for now.
Cartel operatives say they’ve had to move labs to other areas of the country or temporarily shut down production.
“You can’t be calm, you can’t even sleep, because you don’t know when they’ll catch you,” said one high-ranking member of the Sinaloa Cartel who, like other cartel operatives, spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of capture.
“The most important thing now is to survive,” he added, his hands trembling.
Since returning to office in January, President Trump has taken an aggressive stance against Mexican drug cartels, designating them as foreign terrorist organizations on his first day in office.
Another important aspect of their strategy has been the closing off of the southern border, which drug cartels exploit to help traffic billions of dollars of drugs into the United States.
Just this week, Trump imposed a 25 percent tariff on Mexican imports, citing the government’s failure to curb fentanyl trafficking.
The administration is also exploring the possibility of unilateral military operations, including special forces deployments and even targeted air strikes.
“’All options will be on the table’, said Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth during a recent interview with Fox News.
Such efforts are facing pushback from the Mexican government, with President Claudia Sheinbaum recently proposing changes to the country’s constitution that would try and block any investigation or military action by foreign entities without permission from her government.

Pro-Hamas agitators at Barnard College are back at their disruptive activities as they cheerlead for the terror organization that held a parade to celebrate murdering toddlers.
During their latest public tantrum, a bomb threat was called in for the building they took over.
Despite the uncertainty about the veracity of the threat, the agitators refused to evacuate the building. Police officers and college administrators were forced to remain in the building, risk their lives and others, as they attempted to protect those in the area.
Earlier, the mob took a break from handing out Hamas literature to take time to hang an effigy of Barnard President Laura Rosenbury.

The choice of gun control activist David Hogg as vice chair of the DNC last month was met with controversy, given his age, inexperience, and far left positions on various issues.
Just weeks after Hogg’s appointment to the position, he was accused of using DNC resources to promote his personal PAC which pays him a six-figure salary.
Now there are more rumblings behind the scenes about what Hogg is advocating for the Democrat party, which is already mired in an ongoing identity crisis and public meltdown.
This information is coming from a source on Twitter/X known as ‘Bad Hombre’ so it should be taken with a grain of salt, but this account has been right about other things in the past and what is being offered here tracks with other verified reports about Hogg and the DNC:
Frustration and buyer’s remorse are reportedly increasing within the DNC regarding Vice Chair David Hogg.
The dissatisfaction stems from concerns that Hogg is prioritizing the use of party resources to promote his personal image and his organization, “Leaders We Deserve,” rather than supporting the party’s long-term rebranding objectives. Additionally, his ideas are seen as extravagant, wasteful, and radical.
During one meeting, Hogg proposed that the party invest $600 million in creating a social media platform exclusively for registered Democrats to compete with X and Truth Social. He also suggested that he would serve as the platform’s CEO. This rubbed his co-Vice Chairs the wrong way, who view it as another “Hogg money grab.”
More recently, Hogg has clashed with centrist and moderate party insiders over his endorsement of more militant and disruptive tactics, similar to those used by Democrats during President Trump’s address to Congress. Hogg has also advocated for establishing a bail fund to support elected Democratic representatives at the local and state levels who choose to take a more radical approach.
The post goes on to say that Hogg is also facing criticism for pushing Tim Walz as the person Democrats should run for president in 2028.

Are they ever. As noted by The Washington Post, Leland Dudek, who had been in charge of the Social Security Administration’s anti-fraud office, was recently named acting commissioner after the previous acting commissioner Michelle King departed.
But the story was deeper than just one manager moved into a vacancy, according to The Daily Wire.
The tale of Leland Dudek is one that offers a peek into a world of vendettas and vengeance taking place across the federal bureaucracy as the Department of Government Efficiency trains its big guns on where taxpayer money actually goes.
Dudek explained what took place in a since-deleted LinkedIn post.
“At 4:30pm EST, my boss called me to tell me I had been placed on administrative leave pending an Investigation,” Dudek wrote. “They want to fire me for cooperating with DOGE.”
“I confess. I helped DOGE understand SSA. I mailed myself publicly accessible documents and explained them to DOGE. I confess. I moved contractor money around to add data science resources to my anti-fraud team. I confess. I asked where the fat was and is in our contracts so we can make the right tough choices.”
“I confess. I bullied agency executives, shared executive contact information, and circumvented the chain of command to connect DOGE with the people who get stuff done,” the post continued.
Dudek then offered his explanation for cooperating with what has become the enemy of entrenched power: “Everything I have ever done is in service to our country, our beneficiaries, and our agency.”
The Daily Wire reported that, based on a source it did not name, Deputy Commissioner for Analytics, Review, and Oversight Gina Clemons wanted Dudek booted and was still in her post.
Billy Gribbin, a representative for Republican Sen. Mike Lee of Utah, noted that putting fiscally responsible people in charge should happen more often.
“I hope we see more of this. There are many good civil servants who have been quietly frustrated for years with politically-motivated mismanagement who possess an encyclopedic knowledge of the problems with their agencies. Put them in charge, hand them scalpels and flamethrowers,” he posted on X.
The White House said that Social Security is in good hands, according to USA Today.
“Resigned or got fired?” Trump said of King. “I think got fired. You know when you fire someone, they always resign, and then they say, ‘We resigned.’ But when you have numbers like that, I think really it’s got fired.”
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said news media accounts are “trying to fearmonger the American people” into thinking benefits are in danger.
DOGE has been called in to “identify fraud in the Social Security Administration,” she said, by finding payments that should not have been made.
“Rest assured, if you paid into the system honestly, you will continue to receive your Social Security checks,” she said.

President Trump will sign an executive order to abolish the Department of Education as early as Thursday, The Wall Street Journal reported.
Earlier this week the Senate voted 51-45 to confirm Linda McMahon as the 13th Secretary of Education.
President Trump vowed to wage war with Education Department and give power back to the states.
“On Day 1, I will sign a new executive order to cut federal funding for any school pushing critical race theory, transgender insanity, and other inappropriate racial, sexual or political content onto the shoulders of our children,” Trump has said. “And I will not give one penny to any school that has a vaccine mandate or a mask mandate.”
Trump said he wants to strip the entire department.
“We’ll have one person plus a secretary, and all the person has to do is, ‘Are you teaching English? Are you teaching arithmetic? What are you doing? Reading, writing and arithmetic, and are you not teaching woke?’ Not teaching woke is a very big factor, but we’ll have a very small staff,” Trump said on the campaign trail in October.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Trump will direct Secretary McMahon to close down the Education Department.
“A draft of the order, viewed by The Wall Street Journal, directs Education Secretary Linda McMahon to “take all necessary steps to facilitate the closure of the Education Department” based on “the maximum extent appropriate and permitted by law.”” The Wall Street Journal reported.
