I flipped past a clip from Raiders of the Lost Ark and stopped to watch it. It was yet another instance of the Divine being portrayed as a punisher.
No matter how we envision God, it seems that there always appears in our descriptions an element of punishment. It’s as if we cannot resist having God on our side as Punisher-in-Chief: “Fool with me and you answer to the really Big Guy behind me.”
In the Raiders clip, the Punisher symbolically chooses between the good and the bad, the light and the dark and annihilates the dark. Dust unto dust, ashes to ashes. The subtitle is “The Lord’s Vengeance.”
I think that almost all of us subscribe, at some level of consciousness, to the view that the good will survive and the bad … will be punished.

But is God a punisher?
Well, let’s ask God.
Let’s take the case to the Mother/Father One of those who staunchly refuse to countenance Ascension and ask her. Surely that can serve as a test case. Does she act towards them in a punishing way? She replies:
Divine Mother: Those people who just simply say “no, I don’t want to do this” will be gathered up in mercy, in compassion, gentleness and kindness – not brought to somewhere else, let me be very clear about that – they will be brought home for reconstitution. …
They will either die beforehand or die during [Ascension], because they cannot incorporate the level of the love energy – because that is what Ascension is – … and it literally… you have heard of situations, especially you… have heard of situations where people’s hearts simply stop or explode for no explained reason.
It is simply because they cannot continue on, and the merciful thing to do is to simply, gently and kindly, bring them home.
We do not know the meaning of punishment, of what has in so many different religious pursuits been called “hell.” “Hell” is when you are in that place – the depth of despair. (2) [My emphasis.]
So no punishment there. Only mercy and kindness.
Does the Divine ever punish? Archangel Michael answers: “It is not the role of love to mete out punishment.” (3) Hmmm…. No further questions.

Remember: The overall journey that all of us make is from God to God. (How could it be otherwise, when God is everything?)
These eternal beings, now enshrouded in darkness, have lost their way and indulged in the worst rather than the best behavior. And it really is bad, as we shall soon see on our TV screens.
As a result, some might say, the Illuminati will go down to the darkest of the dark planes after death. And that must be a punishment.
Matthew tells us that wherever they go is not a punishment. The universal laws of physics operate and they do so to get us back on track.
In this instance, they operate to remove people from our midst but wherever they send them will mirror back to them their state of consciousness:
“Earth is nearing vibratory levels where the light is so intense that all who have refused the light – the ones we speak of as dark simply to indicate their lack of light – will die. That may sound unduly harsh, but it is not a matter of some “divine” judgment or punishment – it is simply the physics governing life in this universe that bodies bereft of light cannot survive in those higher vibrations. In short, all those who have been causing fearful conditions will be disappearing.” (4)
The universal laws keep us moving forward on the return journey to God, until we are self-realized, knowing who we are, God ready to meet God.
Given that journey and that purpose, Matthew advises us:
“Do not dim your light by focusing on punishment for them, but rather think of them as what they are, weakest links in the chain of Oneness, and send them the healing energy they need to uplift themselves and strengthen the chain for all souls.” (5)
Whatever the outcome, when the practitioners of evil leave our midst by one route or another, I think the entire planet will breathe a sigh of relief and return to a level of peaceful existence we once knew as children and will now have again.
We got here at a price I’ll bet we never dreamed of paying and through a transformational process that probably will take years to comprehend. But – we may later say to ourselves – despite the obstacles, we got here.
