I’d like to think that the demise of free speech in this country will be serving as a wake up call to any who still think that things are just fine as they are. At least I’m in good company in being de-platformed. If civilian Jack Dorsey can delete the account of the President of the United States, clearly no one’s freedom of expression is held as sacred.
What does that mean for this country? And why are so many Americans either blind to the danger or complicit in the quelling of news and ideas that don’t fit nicely inside their limited world view?
This definitely is not how I wanted to spend my Friday night and weekend, but I’m getting right back into it. I might have expected this and I should have vetted out the alternates to Patreon already. I’m researching where to bring my freely expressed thoughts and shared information to now, though, and when I find the right spot I’ll post about it here.
Patreon has been decent enough to give me the contact information for my Patrons, but a year’s worth of content and writing is gone. I’m pretty bummed out about it, but in this bizarre environment, I am choosing to wear it as a badge of honor and just carry on.
Perhaps by end of day on Saturday I’ll be up and running somewhere. Any updates will be posted here, and I’m hoping that our little community will just migrate over to whatever new space I find. Stay tuned!
