“Nothing will benefit human health
and increase chances for survival on Earth
as much as the evolution to a vegetarian diet.”
~ Albert Einstein
Boy, Finland is on a roll. It’s effectively eradicating homelessness, as outlined in an article by Sitara, for The Golden Age of Gaia. (1.)
As well, in a lab just outside of Helsinki, Solar Foods is developing a Protein made from Air, Water and Renewable Electricity. (2.)
How is that even possible? Apparently it is.
“The protein — called Solein — is made using living microbes that are then grown in a fermenter in a process similar to brewing beer. The microbes are fed with carbon dioxide, hydrogen, oxygen and nitrogen — all taken from the air.
This fermentation process, which takes place in huge vats, produces a liquid that is removed and dried to give the final product — a yellow flour-like powder with multiple food uses.”(3.)
Fantastico.
I have been a Vegetarian for more than half my life and a Vegan for the past decade. The last foods I eliminated from my diet were Cheese and Eggs.
I once heard a famous chef say, “Let’s face it. Food is just a vehicle to put cheese in your mouth.” It made me laugh because I was once a cheese-a-holic. Happily, there are now wonderful Vegan cheeses out there. (4.)
I became a Vegetarian-sliding-into-Vegan because I love Animals.
I wrote an article for a now-defunct Airline Magazine more than thirty years ago about Veganism, and for it, I interviewed a number of people who worked for PETA, [People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.]
Most of the people I interviewed were in their teens and twenties, but it was early days for the fledgling company. PETA was founded in March, 1980.
PETA was still finding its way in the world, and doing offensive things to get people’s attention to the plight of Animals. Some of you may remember, for instance, that they’d pour red paint on women wearing fur coats attending Fashion Shows in New York.
What I learned is that to a one, each were working for PETA with a singular passion: They loved Animals too dearly to eat them.
It was so comforting back then, to be in a roomful of people who felt the same way about Animals as I did.
I was once asked to define what Animals are to me and I replied, “Earth Angels. They are here to show us the way of unconditional, unconditional, unconditional love.”
Most Vegetarians/Vegans have read John Robbins seminal 1987 book, “Diet for a New America,” which was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize. (5.)
For me, Mr. Robbins outlining the plight of Animals in the Meat and Dairy Industry was especially poignant because Robbins was heir to the Baskin-Robbins ice cream fortune. His father, Irv Robbins, and uncle, Burt Baskin, co-founded the multi-million dollar company in 1945.
It was a cherished family memory when Robbins’ dad would come home every night with a gallon of a new flavor of ice cream for the family to try. However, it was an inheritance John Robbins would walk away from once he learned how Dairy was produced.
“I think you do it a step at a time, a day at a time, a mouthful at a time, a food choice at a time, a purchase at a time, an order at a time, a meal at a time. And I think we change the world one heart at a time.”
~ John Robbins
Solar Foods discovery of Protein made from Air and Water is an answer to many Vegan prayers. We are always on the lookout for high quality and satisfying vegan protein. This protein sounds like a Nova Gaia protein to me in that it creates protein without hindering the planet in any way, shape or form.
Just this morning I was reading about a quickly booming trend in Veganism—the Fast Food Vegan. In England a hot commodity seems to be the Vegan Sausage Roll. It sounds delicious, but let’s face it, fried anything is yummy, regardless that technically it’s not “good” for you. (6.)

That is the way of the whole human being.”
