When I talk of seeing the Self, in my experience at Xenia Retreat Center on Sept. 18, 2018, I’m speaking dualistically. I as the subject am speaking of the Self as if it were an object, when in reality it’s who I am.
I haven’t developed to the point where I’ve realized that Self as being who I am. That experience lies out in front of me.
The Self is found in what spiritual sources call the seat of the soul. The seat of the soul is the deepest place in the heart, the bottom of the Marianas Trench that the heart is.
I think of the distance we travel down into the heart to find the Self as being travel down an umbilical cord between the everyday us/human beings that we are and the natural Self. It reminds me of the various movies – Stargate is one – in which the traveller speeds down a tube to another place in the universe.
Descending deeper and deeper into the heart is like speeding down a tube that ends with the Self.
We’re connected to the Self by the heart. The heart shelters the Self in its deepest place like an oyster a pearl.
Now I know where to look. Now I know what I’m looking for.
A man found a treasure buried in a field.
He covered it up, went and sold all he had, and bought the field.
