Happy New Year, Everyone!
May this NOW be a dreams-come-true for all—Gaia, Her Kingdoms, Humanity, Galaxy, Star Systems and Multiverses. Peace, Health, Happiness, Abundance and Good Will to All.
One of my most passionate dreams “after the RV” is to help the Animal Kingdom. I do what I can now, but there is much to be done.
Millions of caring souls all over the globe are doing incredible work towards creating Freedom, Sanctuary and Love, for what is for me, one of Gaia’s most wondrous Kingdoms. Animals are Earth Angels; I do not see them any other way.
I’ve been blessed to have several animals come into my life and although, technically, they were “rescues” where I was supposedly rescuing them, as it turned out of course, they rescued me.
I learned about unconditional love from my cat Cloud, and my pup, Dhatri. Unconditional, unconditional, unconditional. I’d never experienced that in my Human relationships.
“Until one has loved an animal, a part of one’s soul remains unawakened.” (Anatole France.)
I’m happy to report, to those who may have missed it, that there is a new law to be implemented in California in 2019: The Pet Rescue and Adoption Act, signed by Governor Jerry Brown in 2017, to go into effect January 1, 2019.
“The law bans pet stores from selling dogs, cats and rabbits that aren’t rescues.
“The law requires all pet shops to identify the public animal control agency, shelter or rescue group that the animal came from. Such information must be on display on its cage or in its enclosure.
“The stores must also give public animal control agencies and shelters periodic access to those records. Anyone found to violate the law would be subject to a $500 fine.
“The law intends to promote the adoption of pets from shelters and to help stop supporting mass breeding facilities ― popularly known as ‘puppy mills’― which often have deplorable and inhumane conditions…” (1)
There is further good news of banning the sale of puppies and kittens in pet shops in England.
“Britain has banned third-party sales of puppies and kittens to protect the animals from exploitation… Animal Welfare Minister David Rutley said the ban is ‘part of our commitment to make sure the nation’s much-loved pets get the right start in life.’” (2)
And for a third piece of good news for Animal Rights in the New Year: New Jersey and Hawaii became the first two American States to ban the use of any wild animals from being used in circus performances. “The ban includes elephants, tigers, lions, bears, and primates in circus traveling shows.” (3)
For the record, I would ban all animals from any form of “entertainment,” including “racing.” So I gratefully celebrate any relief toward that end.
Freedom, respect and reverence for the Animal Kingdom is part of my vision for Nova Gaia. I see New Earth as a planet where Animals roam free and everyone else gets out of their way, not the other way around.
May good news for Animal Rights continue until every single one is free and loved. As Jane Goodall reminds us:
“The more we learn of the true nature of non-human animals, especially those with complex brains and corresponding complex social behavior, the more ethical concerns are raised regarding their use in the service of man – whether this be in entertainment, as ‘pets,’ for food, in research laboratories, or any of the other uses to which we subject them.” (4)
