What am I missing? Do people actually get their news from FB? If FB goes away, are these people helpless?
I quit FB when I saw the censoring by “fact-checkers” starting to appear. I haven’t missed it one bit. It was never intended to be a vehicle to get “news” or a way to contact government entities. Australia did the right thing and of course like a spoiled child, FB fired back. I hope Australia doesn’t back down. -

I personally agree with you about Facebook. I quit many years ago when my password got hacked and then it was extremely difficult to get my account closed.
That said, many, many millions – billions? – of people don’t necessarily rely on Facebook to get their “news.” That may be part of it, certainly. Everybody gets accustomed to receiving information through certain channels.
But many rely on it for connection, comfort, warmth, a feeling of unity… With their friends and family and like-minded souls.
I don’t begrudge them that. I believe connection is sorely needed especially at this moment of time. A great many people have no idea where to go other than Facebook for that breadth and depth of community and connection.
My hope, and I think the hope of many, many people in our community of light and spiritual awareness, is that either Facebook will be taken over by people who are of the light, or the people who rely on Facebook will be able to migrate to other platforms such as MeWe.
I think Australia has an excellent backbone and I say, good on ya, Australia.😉 I admit I know little about what’s happening other than Australia is cracking down on Facebook. I apologize for my lack of knowledge, it’s just not on my radar. I’m choosy about the storylines I pay attention to and that isn’t a big one for me right now. Whatever “Facebook fired back“ means, I suspect I will find out about it from Suzi’s buy me a coffee site. She DOES keep up on that kind of thing.

Ha! go ahead and laugh at me, I’m laughing at myself. I hadn’t even looked at the site before I went straight to the forum. I will read this and become enlightened.
