January 2, 2022 A wanderer is man from his birth. He was born in a ship On the breast of the river of Time; Brimming with wonder and joy He spreads out his arms to the light… As what he sees is, so have his thoughts been. ~Matthew Arnold, The Future I feel like […]
January 1, 2022 The day has pass’d in storms, though not unmix’d With transitory calm. ~Thomas Love Peacock, The Rain-bow It’s quiet. Peaceful. The air is utterly still. Frost sparkles on cars parked outside overnight. It was 39° when I got up, as cold as it’s been so far this winter here in balmy […]
December 30, 2021 No ladders, no descending angels, no voice out of the whirlwind, no rending of the veil, or chariot in the sky… Only…the moon, appearing suddenly over your shoulder, brimming and ovoid, ripe with light, lifting slowly, deliberately, wobbling slightly, while far below, the faithful sea rises up and follows. ~Carolyn Miller, The […]
December 28, 2021 If you are depressed you are living in the past. If you are anxious you are living in the future. If you are at peace you are living in the present. ~ Lao Tzu The above quote from today’s calendar struck home for me. Depression indicates living in the past; anxiety is […]
December 27, 2021 “We’re going,” they said, “to the end of the world.” So they stopped the car where the river curled, And we scrambled down beneath the bridge On the gravel track of a narrow ridge… I stood at the edge where the mist ascended, My journey done where the world ended. I looked […]
December 26, 2021 We’ve packed our bags, we’re set to fly no one knows where, the maps won’t do… It has the clarity of earth and sky seen from a spacecraft, once removed, as through an amniotic lens, that groove- lessness of space, the last star by. ~Todd Hearon, Voyager Oh, how I long […]

December 23, 2021 Every living heart…all over this broad land, will yet swell…, when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature. ~ Abraham Lincoln How could I possibly be happy? It doesn’t look like the Reval has happened. It does look like lockdowns are happening. And as far […]
December 18, 2021 The moon-steeped air was snowy cold— And yet there was no snow… The leafless trees Stirred in their sleep; While with hushed breath The young Spring stood wondering At the white smile of Death. ~Frances Dickinson Pinder, Frost There is a waiting stillness to this morning. Waiting for what? The breath […]
December 16, 2021 Be bold. Find your magic. Chase the impossible. ~Devney Perry I really want instant manifestation, and I really want it…now. Fervently desiring something, and attempting to manifest it out of thin air (for example by commanding myself to heal, as someone recently suggested), sounds both ludicrous and obvious. Ludicrous, because I can […]

Tracy and Mohan Tracy), Empty Space Wanting to write is not the same as having something to […]

December 2, 2021 …More and more I’m satisfied with partial explanations like a fly with one wing, walking. ~Dean Young, Quiet Grass, Green Stone Pain is a nutcracker. I wonder if it will go away now that it’s cracked open a deeper heart connection? It’s as if an opaque gray geode has been smacked […]
