On a happy note, we live at about a thousand feet above sea level, and on high ground at that. There was a flood here in the year 2000 that was so intense that two different local dams burst. The brook running across our property flooded right over the road out in front by at least eight inches, completely overcoming the culvert underneath it. We stayed dry then, too.
However…for the fifteenth time this year alone, the power went out. It’s been out since 5:30 this morning as I write, and I got up to (first thing) go fill up my two, 2.5 gallon gas cans, because the power went out the night before as well. Thank goodness for this generator, and for the angel who got it for us many years ago.
It looks like we’ll have more rain here for most of another day, but the damaging winds, at least inland where we are, have finished their work.
A friend wrote, “I know it does little to receive caring words from someone so far away (in practical terms), yet maybe it does help when more than one prays/intends for the best.”
I answered, “The way I see it, the entry of my welfare into yours or anyone’s thoughts is like a mini-prayer all by itself. Our good outcome is boosted by it, so of course it helps, and does way more than little.” By the same token, when we read about any number of hideous injustices going on, most especially right now in England, Iran…and sadly, we could name every single country in this world…we could also most certainly count the pulse of sincere compassion that emerges from us without even any trying on our part. It just happens. It’s just who we are.
Really, every compassionate thought we have about someone who we witness and perceive as deserving of it matters, even if a kind thought is all it ever is. Funny to think of each one going out as an etheric thought bubble of goodness that travels directly to the intended party or situation. You sensitive folks know how it feels to be the target of somebody’s psychic goo, so it makes perfect sense that the good ju-ju also moves in a similar way.
Public stories of heart-wrenching injustice can generate such a wave of collective energy that we actually are able to change these things, at least on some level. Here on Earth…I just don’t know what’s going to happen in England. We’re watching it fall directly on the world stage, and it’s literally beyond comprehension that those in power are openly moving to destroy the country. And the Persian people have absolutely no more effs to give. They’re dying every single day in the cause of breaking free of Islamic control.
I don’t want to dive into all of that…my point, really, is that even when we have nothing to say about how things go in other countries, or even in other people’s lives, we can entertain good thoughts about those outcomes and experiences, just like we can with our own (I remind myself as I write…)
For anyone wondering about the kittens, they’re all fabulous. Fae is apparently quite normal and healthy, although the medicine continues through most of next month. They bring Joy to our lives, and everybody loves kitten pictures.
PS ~ Power’s back after 11 hours…
