In my very humble opinion, I believe the biggest mistake we make in life is by considering that we get love from another.
OK, OK, OK, we do. But the amount is very small compared to getting love from where it lives, from where it bounteously shares itself. It’s an endless artesian well, living there in the heart, awaiting our attention.
In contrast, the love we get from others, while necessary to complete the circuit, is not our major source.
If we go on only what we receive from others, I believe that it would barely suffice to sees us through the normal storms that arise when we live with another, want to get our needs met, want more money, more sex, more freedom, on and on. And don’t get what we want or the amount we want.
We can and may very soon stop living from the divine qualities.
Some of us are able to continue; but many not, I think; witness the divorce rate.
Most of us are living by codes of decency; a minority by the law of the jungle. But not many from this love, the knowing of which would cause a broad smile to cross your lips at the mere mention of it (and a chuckle).
On March 13, 2015, the day the kundalini hit my fourth or heart chakra, my heart explosively opened and I found myself awash in a tsunami of love, to use Linda Dillon’s descriptive phrase.
“Is this what the sages are talking about!” I asked myself and surrendered to it.
This love was better than any love you’ve ever experienced, I’ll bet the farm on it.
And what are we now? Eleven years on? My heart remains open a smidge, but that’s enough to allow me to draw love up with my in-breath and send it out to the world (love must flow) on my outbreath.
Michael informs us:
AAM: Love is the energy of the universe. It is the energy of the Mother. And it moves constantly, continually, eternally, infinitely. So, to have an experience of love, it [must move] through you. (1)
This is an All Points Bulletin:
Archangel Michael: Love is a fluid energy. It has need to flow and so, when it does not flow, it becomes … well, as you put it, it can become dry and brittle. It has need to be given and received, above, below, within, without and in every which way. (2) [My emphasis.]
When we distract ourselves from the love that we are and that’s present in our hearts, we wonder why we feel so low or awful.
Never mind telling ourselves our partner is not loving us. WE are not loving us. We are not drawing our love up and sending it out.
This love experienced – not ordinary, everyday love, no matter how good – is for me the true reward for any and every action.
I’ve never tried turning this simple exercise of breathing love up and out into a personal med bed. Hmmmm…..

Cf as well, Sri Ramakrishna: Love is one of the patterns of the Mother. Love will always flow. It will never stand still. The Mother is energy, movement. In her universal aspect, she never stands still. Were she to do so, the world would return to its Origin. Love is her energy and the flow of love is her movement. It supports the world; comprises it; and dissolves it in the end.
The Divine Mother [is] the Primal Energy. (Paramahansa Ramakrishna in Swami Nikhilananda, trans., The Gospel of Sri Ramakrishna. New York: Ramakrishna-Vivekananda Center, 1978; c1942, 116.)
