Skye is saying that at 5 am on Monday, wherever you are on this planet, med bed staff has been told to be at their stations, ready to start helping people through their healing process. Honestly, every day holds a good bit of contemplation of med beds for me, when they’ll be available and all that. Today though…it’s especially acute for me and my daughter.
As you may know, our cat Nova left the Earth plane in physical on May 14th…40 days after Easter, when we’d started giving her daily subcutaneous fluids. With all the loss we’ve encountered over the past two years, we didn’t want to live in a cat-free house…so we started the hunt for 3 kittens from one litter. Cousteau died in the fire in March of ’24, and Nina lost her fight with kitty leukemia a year or so before that.
We wanted our family back, and there was some discussion on whether to go to a breeder or to a rescue for the re-membering. The rescue won out, and we now have three kitten sisters from a feral colony who were raised so well by their foster mom that they fear nothing, and are the sweetest little creatures imaginable.
Why do things have to be so hard? Today, in about an hour, actually, we have to bring little Fae to the holistic vet for a blood test, because she may have FIP. That’s Feline infectious peritonitis, a disease that was 100% deadly before 2018. I was really hoping for healthy, carefree kittens…especially in the wake of caring for elder kitties for a half decade or so.
No need to elucidate on all the meds and special processes and supplements involved in that. We have to do that for ourselves as we reach our own elder years, and I just look forward to when our bodies aren’t so incredibly high-maintenence. In any case, now we’re faced with an expensive blood test and treatment for Fae, but the fact that treatment is available, and the disease is curable…thank you God.
I’m also grateful to have a little (fire) furniture money to put towards the care of young Fae, trusting that more will be flowing for all of us, and we’ll be able to furnish the house nicely at some point (soon?).
I agreed to doing the rescue thing, knowing that physical issues can pop up with ones who haven’t had the most optimal of early experiences…because of med beds and their imminent availability. I wasn’t expecting to have to deal with this now while we’re still dealing with trauma, but nobody can say this life is predictable or peaceful.
I wonder if any human alive actually knows what it feels like to be healthy….
Anyway, I don’t have time to take notes for Skye’s latest, because we’re off to the vet shortly. May we all soon be blessed with excellent health and abundant resources.
