We’re all on the same bullet-train route, on one or another of its trains, going to the same destination
Why do we … OK, I … call divine qualities “spiritual universals’?
For a number of reasons.
First because everyone recognizes them. They may not welcome or respect them, as with the dark ones of the deep state, but they do recognize them when they see them. So, universally, we share a familiarity with them.
Second, because most people do welcome them when they arise and would like to live permanently in them. Others hearing about them might also want to experience them because of what they hear. Except, again, the dark ones.
Third, because, when they arise, they arise from inside of us. In other words, the divine qualities must live inside us. Where inside? I’ve experienced them in the spiritual heart. Not the heart chakra, but the heart which lies on the other side of the closed heart door or hridayam. Two digits right of the breastbone.
To combine these points, we call the divine qualities “spiritual universals” because they’re universally known and recognized; because, while they’re not universally respected and desired, they’re perhaps the most well respected of all our internal consciousness states; and because they are found to live within all of us, universally; specifically, in the heart.
Opening the heart (1) and releasing the divine qualities is what, I surmise, all human beings end up doing sooner or later. It is one stage along the overall journey … into the heart.

The heart in which the divine qualities live is a portal. We may enter it when the kundalini reaches the heart chakra, but that doesn’t make the heart chakra the heart any more than a light switch being switched on makes the switch the light.
Does anything else live inside us?
The whole of the cosmos lives inside us, as I saw back in the early 1990s, for reference, at Third Beach in Vancouver.
On another occasion, I was lying on the sand at English Bay at nighttime, looking up at the sky. The stars looked like dots of white paint on a black bowl. Suddenly my whole perspective shifted and the lights now appeared in their relative distances from each other and somehow I had the ability to see far into space where the distances could be seen.
Yes, there is one other thing besides the cosmos that I know lives inside of us. Shankara called it the longing for liberation. (2)
The longing for liberation is placed in us by the Mother. It’s the longing for liberation from illusion, density, and death through the realization of who we are.
This longing is not, and cannot be, satisfied by anything short of full reunion with the One. Food, possessions, sex, wealth all pale after a while and the longing returns.
Interestingly, when we go deeper into what’s being longed for, we find that, for much of the journey, it’s love, bliss, peace, completion, or another of the … you guessed it … divine qualities that we long for. Then finally it will be God. (I’ll tell you about that when I get there!!!!)
So God created a world in which sentient beings could come to know who they are at which point God meets God. And just to make sure, God placed within everyone a homing device, a longing to reunite, that could not be satisfied by anything else than that meeting, but is greatly encouraged and speeded along by experiencing and feeling the divine qualities that live inside us along the way

(1) A heart opening is a specific event that occurs when the kundalini reaches the fourth chakra. It is viewed as the first enlightenment, known to Hindus as spiritual awakening and to Buddhists as stream entering.
