I’m doing a lot of inner work on the notion of a spectrum at the moment.
My hypothesis is that we approach things we encounter by viewing them through a range or spectrum of attitudes.
Let’s say that on the far left is a pole called “Negative.” On the far right is a pole called “Positive.” (Is my bias showing?) And in the center, the middle, is a pole called “Neutral.”
These poles reflect our chosen attitude.
Each pole is invested with strategies for winning what we want and avoiding what we don’t want, responses to other people’s moves, future directions, appropriate gestures and expressions, etc.
We’re constantly shifting between one pole and the other. We like this thing, and so we approach it from our positive side. We don’t like that thing, and so we approach it from our negative side. Things we’re neutral to we often don’t give a thought to.
Just as we approach others with these attitudes, they also (may) approach us with the same. It’s called being judgmental.
We then employ these strategies in our relationship negotiations to get what we want and avoid what we don’t want.
Now, wrap that up in cellophane and put a twist-tie on it. In my opinion, that’s what many of us call a relationship.
Two judgment machines bent on getting what they want and avoiding what they don’t want.
I don’t see these as permanent character traits. I see them as the result of the density that accompanies life in the Third Dimension plus the programming that has resulted, which we may unconsciously keep running even as we’re leaving (not having left) this dimension.
I say “not having left” because, as you know, I’ve experienced life in the 7th Dimension, which is where most of us will evidently end up, and the love there is beyond imagining. (1) That automatically eliminates from our thinking and intending any harmful thoughts.
Higher-dimensional beings are said to feel afflicted when we have an angry or a mean-spirited thought. It is “physically” painful to them.
In a higher state, the negative cannot survive but the neutral and the positive can.
The positive is like an airline steward/ess, helping the experience be nourishing and joyful. The neutral is like the pilot, keeping the plane moving forward.
This process is inherently self-serving but to introduce a discussion of the self-serving bias here would make this too long. I refer you to a book-length study. (2)
This is the human as robot – self-serving, automatic in our behavior, living a yes/no, win/lose existence.
This is everything that the constantly-rising energies are causing to dissolve and dissipate. This is what we’re leaving behind, perhaps as painlessly as dropping one’s character armor. (4)
