Conchita Sarnoff was among the first journalists to investigate and expose Jeffrey Epstein’s child sex trafficking network, beginning her work in 2006 after a disturbing encounter in Mexico.

A remark by a former Mexican foreign minister about Americans “stealing children” pushed her to look deeper into human trafficking, where she uncovered Epstein’s case. Having known Epstein socially since the early 1990s—and later meeting G.Maxwell—Sarnoff had rare access. She interviewed Epstein during his 2008 house arrest and uncovered evidence pointing to blackmail and influence peddling involving powerful institutions and elites.

Her book TrafficKing: The Epstein Case, completed in 2008 but published only in 2021 after 27 rejections, details the lenient plea deal and how Epstein used power and connections to evade justice. Sarnoff emphasized that the case was not only about sexual abuse, but also about corruption at the highest levels.
