So much existing coverage is jingoistic, sensational, and unreferenced. But it’s this or nothing. At some point we’ll need to rebuild the journalistic ethic, but for now it seems to be the Wild West.

At the same time, I want to bring in more of the galactic, celestial, and divine commentary. But I’ve discovered that there are not as many aggregators here as I expected. I may draw on historical sources to augment current voices.

Within the next 12 days, she is required to return to prison for an additional 498 days — for acting according to her best professional knowledge and conscience, and for protecting her patients.

This is happening despite the fact that, just two weeks ago, Federal Minister of Health Nina Warken publicly stated that

“In Germany, the constitutionally protected freedom of medical therapy fundamentally applies.”

Her statement was made in response to the appeal of the U.S. Secretary of Health, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who called on Germany to immediately end the persecution of physicians and patients.

He stated verbatim:

“When any government criminalizes doctors for advising their patients, it crosses a line that free societies have always treated as sacred.”

And further:

“I made it clear that Germany has the opportunity and the responsibility to correct this trajectory, to restore medical autonomy, to end politically motivated prosecutions, and to uphold the rights that anchor every democratic nation.”

We appeal to the German federal government to restore these rights on which every democratic nation is founded, as called for by Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and to guarantee genuine freedom of medical therapy.

The case of Bianca Witzschel is the litmus test for medical freedom in Germany.
