Since I wrote this Article, the Pope has passed.
Very interesting timing.
May the questions begin.
There are so many ways to start a conversation.
Typically for me a subject is approached by asking questions.
This is helpful because there is always more to know.
What I have found is that people know different things.
Of course we all know some of the same stuff.
But that may be because at some point we received the same material or asked the same questions.
Once that information goes into our heads we add our own elements and variety of flavor .
Our personal perspective develops in such a way that when we repeat what we know it may be a bit different than someone who has heard the same information. This creates a continual loop of expanded learning and some really interesting conversations.
It would be super boring if we all repeated everything the same way as everyone else.
Let’s take the topic of Religion and politics. Ta-da.
The two topics we are often steered away from talking about if we all want to get along. Why? Because these are topics of Belief. And belief is formulated when something that goes into our heads and we get to decide if we agree or disagree with the information. If we like what we are hearing we keep it. We plant it, feed and grow it. The roots grow into our psyche and we become attached to our beliefs. All of the information that we took in is from somewhere else.
But if it resonates with us we make it our own.
There is an exception to this process.
Those are the seemingly rare ones that listen to something else.
This group of people have the innate ability to access information differently.
There is a knowing that comes from a place not outside of ourselves but from a source unseen deep inside.
This source doesn’t want glory, power or your money. It isn’t running for office or building tall buildings.
It simply is.
This source is easily accessible to everyone but seemingly only a few have tapped into it.
This inner knowing is what has set us apart from the masses.
But it doesn’t exclude us from learning outside of ourselves too.
I often wonder why people who seem to have the ability to think for themselves never tap into this innate source.
I watch people go through the motions of life and never question why something is.
Recently my question was about Easter.
Having grown up in a Spanish influenced catholic environment, attending Native American dances and ceremonies and still having the freedom to think for myself.
I didn’t know much about organized religions. I broke from the Catholic church when I was 13 yrs old.
To me they were a bunch of liars. Why I thought that I don’t know. I just knew they creeped me out and were lying.
But we still had easter egg hunts, cake and planted potatoes on good Friday.
I didn’t really understand Easter nor did I care. It was just another thing people did that I wasn’t invested in, but participated because it was fun.
I was going through the motions following everyone else.
Then I focused on Egypt.
I became fascinated with the Mystery schools in Ancient times.
I expanded my knowledge and understanding about Jesus or Yahweh in the Hebrew text.
I have learned many things that came to me through asking my own questions.
My question about Easter isn’t about what it is I want to believe but trying to figure out what it is other people believe and why.
So taking a bit of a dive in Christianity I was fascinated once again to find that not all people think alike.
There are many elements of what we have been told that have varying versions.
Is that why people fight so much?
We don’t really know what the truth is, but we get so invested in feeding the belief tree we aren’t going to change our idea of things?
It would seem the very bedrock of Religion is based on historical accounts that are a mix of speculation, scripted text, interpretation and fortunately some actual physical historical landmarks.
Many elements of what the truth may have been, have also been hidden from the general public for a variety of reasons and practices.
For example, while in Egypt, I was devastated to learn that a Mosque had been built on what was previously a very important ancient temple.
This has occurred all over the world, including where the Vatican has been built.
This was the way.
Actual contemporary practices are even more stretched from the truth.
Does anyone know why we hunt eggs at Easter?
What sense does it make that a bunny hides eggs?
Why are the eggs hidden? Why is the truth hidden?
Why do we color them? Why is the truth colored?
What is the symbolism behind the sacred egg?
Why a bunny?
I have so many questions and it’s only about the tradition of the egg hunt.
There are so many other questions about lamb and ham. The sacrifice. The journey of Moses. The role of Mary.
And the answers are so varied I realized quickly that people have lost the reason behind Easter and the traditions that are now accepted as common practice.
So I asked my good Christian friend who is very good at interpreting these things.
My question wasn’t about traditions. It was looking into the heart of what Easter represents.
She covered all of the highlights very well. Last supper, Good Friday, Crucifixion and Resurrection.
This story is the bedrock of a World Religion.
This bedrock as it turns out is fractured.
This story has many versions and has evolved into different beliefs.
The story of Jesus even divides Judaic beliefs creating a branch of Messianic Judaism.
You don’t need to be spiritual to be aware of the Painting the Last Supper by Leonardo de Vinci
You don’t need to know why the last supper plays into the story of Easter.
But if you do know it might raise even more questions.
Just the painting alone has raised many questions.
What happened to Mary for example.
Surely she was there.
For those in the secular world the arguments are plenty.
A political image comes to mind of the recent round of protests.
Angry mobs carrying Peace signs.
For centuries Religious people have been fighting wars all because they are invested in a different part of a story.
It’s funny how the message gets lost when the debate is about what exactly happened to the messenger.
Perhaps that is the idea behind fueling the debate.
Diversion from the message.
Or is it something else?
I am not here to tell anyone what is the truth or what to believe.
I am just presenting that there are different versions.
And now an even more unpopular thought, this idea of Easter is suspect all together.
Apparently Easter is not part of the resurrection story.
According to my source. Easter is a pagan holiday that was introduced by the Satanic cult in order to hijack the worship of Christ.
Another credible source states that paganism was actually the divine feminine or ancient goddess energy manipulated by the Patriarch.
And it could be said the Patriarch is actually the church itself.
So what is going on here?
And this gets right to the heart of my quest and question.
Where is the manipulation?
There is so much about our contemporary traditions that get handed down without explanations.
Or when we get an explanation it contradicts what another has said.
When we look to outside sources we may find more confusion than answers.
As long as we are willing to look at the contributing factors behind where people get their beliefs we can learn more about each other.
Is it worth fighting over?
I don’t think so. It is worth pointing out we still may not know what is true but perhaps we can all agree on that.
It intrigues me that Easter is at the pinnacle of such theological disagreement.
This in itself earns it as a major holiday in my book.
So no matter which story you align with, keep in mind the overall message and don’t shoot the messenger.
It’s funny how the message gets lost when the debate is about what exactly happened to the messenger.
Never be afraid to challenge the narrative.
Once again I am driven to ask the questions that stir the pot if you will.
When you ask the right people new information gets revealed.
And some of the hidden answers are quite interesting.
As new truths are revealed old thoughts and beliefs will buck.
Hang on folks. We may be in for a bit of a ride.
Not all of the message is lost.
The message being, We are love.
Be of LOVE.
This is a condensed version.
There will be those that want to say the message is so much more.
And there are many messages to be found. It is worth taking the time to seek answers for yourself.
I can’t help but wonder, What would Mary say?
Be blessed my friends.
