Some of you are aware of the fact that I don’t see Telegram as a viable option for gathering news. The platform has been used by an astonishing number of people representing themselves as someone that they are not.
It isn’t just that, either…there’s a lively scam network going with those same pretenders using other people’s names to sell things that don’t exist.
I’ll look on the research board, but I don’t get that Pavel Durov is strictly a free-speech guy. My feeling is that he’s working for himself by using a situation to his advantage; i.e., rampant global censoring. He had the resources to create a thing that he could then sell parts of the functioning of off to the highest bidder…
Bidders who want access to subscribers’ info, people who will pay money to be allowed to have fake accounts stealing others’ brands.
It’s absolutely true that free speech is and has been under vicious and concerted attack. Other truthers and free speech platforms are condemning the arrest, and perhaps rightly so. I just wonder about anything like this that blasts out into the blogosphere and makes everybody go, “Oh, poor guy.”
Zuckerberg just admitted that he knowingly censored information on his platforms, using the old, “I was just following orders” alibi. How come he wasn’t (publicly) arrested?
The jury is out on the good guy/bad guy handle for Pavel, in my view. Are the well known bad guys going after him like they are to make it appear that he’s one of the good guys?
Bottom line…we’re watching a movie, and it’s probably wise to refrain from getting too attached to any one thing being true. Frankly, it’s all outrageous now, and designed to be so. Bring on the Cosmic Sedative, my friends! We need a collective chill pill.
