Homeland Security Secretary confirms Antifa meets standards of domestic terrorism

Chad Wolf, the current Secretary of Homeland Security made a public statement yesterday clarifying that Antifa “absolutely” meets the standards to be classified as domestic terrorists.
“The issue with Antifa,” said Wolf, “it’s not just one singular group. It’s a loosely knit organization that’s very hard to define, very hard to define who’s a part of it.” He also stated, “I think what we see with them individually targeting law enforcement, individually targeting certain officials for certain reasons, that is the definition of domestic terrorism.”
There is a growing public concern regarding Antifa and it’s recurring involvement in violent incidents all over the US, and indeed, in Canada and in many other places in the world. Recently, even top brass at Facebook finally realized that Antifa were promoting violence, and shut down many of their accounts and groups.
The backdrop to all this is the continuing civil disturbances in many American cities, especially those on the west coast. Wolf also mentioned in his statement that the FBI is presently conducting several concurrent investigations into the group and its many semi-formal branches.
Wolf’s speech touched on the fact that, while federal agencies are more than willing to help out in any capacity that they may be needed, it is ultimately up to local and state police to maintain and promote public order in their own jurisdictions.
In the absence of sufficient actions to quell the riots by local authorities, “individuals have a right to protect themselves and their businesses and what they’ve worked all their life to build.”
Wolf also brought up the fact that over 100 federal agents have been injured so far this year in clashes with violent Antifa protestors in the city of Portland alone. Portland is one of those jurisdictions where local police are often told to leave rioters alone.
Most of these injuries are eye injuries caused by lasers that Antifa members often carry to the protests. Some of these lasers are powerful enough to cause permanent eye injuries or even complete blindness. Antifa are also known to convert fireworks into makeshift mortars that are nonetheless potentially very deadly over their area of effect.

Victoria Police arrest James Bartolo for online support of anti-lockdown protests

Victoria Police are continuing their crackdown on social media users supporting coronavirus protests, arresting another person accused of incitement on Friday.

James Bartolo was arrested at his home after police broke through his front door and tackled him to the floor.
Mr Bartolo filmed his arrest and posted it live to his personal Facebook account.
The video showed him arguing with police who were calling for him to open the front door.
In the three-minute-long video, Mr Bartolo argues with police, claiming they were trespassing on his property.
“You don’t have authorisation to be on the property,” Mr Bartolo says after being told police have a search warrant.
Police then forced their way in and arrested him in his living room.
A Victorian Police spokeswoman said the 27-year-old has been charged with incitement, possession of prohibited weapons and two counts of resisting police.
Bartolo the fourth arrested for incitement
Mr Bartolo is the latest Victorian to be arrested as police crack down on those they allege are inciting protests.
Victoria police on Thursday confirmed three other people have been arrested and charged with incitement, including one who was re-arrested for alleged ongoing offences.
A video of her arrest was filmed and posted to Facebook.
She told officers she did not know that anything she did was wrong.
The Australian Human Rights Commission expressed concerns over the arrest on their social media account.
She told reporters on Thursday she was upset the arrest took place in front of her kids.
“I do think they [police] were too heavy handed, especially [to arrest me] in front of my children and to walk into my house like that. It did scare them,” she said.
“I was scared I was being kidnapped.
“I was just fully freaking out.”

Bartolo calls protest ‘a trap’ to extend lockdowns
Following his arrest, Mr Bartolo posted two videos on Facebook urging people not to go to protests in Melbourne’s CBD on Saturday.
Mr Bartolo called the protests ‘a trap’, saying they will be used as an excuse for Premier Daniel Andrews to extend lockdown laws across Victoria.
Victoria is currently under level 4 restrictions, with a nightly curfew in place for Melbourne and limits to how far people can travel from their home. There is no date for when the restrictions will be lifted.
