I’ve been inside two of my bodies. I had a lucid dream and awoke in my astral body. At the end of the dream I re-entered my physical body. One thing stands out from that experience.
There was an “I,” an “eye of awareness,” that was a constant feature of the situation.
My physical body was shown to be no part of me just as the Iron Man suit is no part of the wearer. Any survival concerns therefore evaporated.
Yet in both life in my astral and my physical body, there was always an “I,” that saw (as an eye sees) things from its own perspective. I’m willing to speculate that it would persist and “see” things – to be the observer – whether I was blind, delirious … or dead.
In other words, this I, this eye of awareness was not a part of the physical body – brain or otherwise. How many of us still think of the “I” as being an idea, a product of the brain?
This point of awareness that we locate in the brain persists when the physical body, or even the astral body, ceases to exist. The astral body is Fourth Dimensional (Astral Plane) . Even it returns to the elements when its afterlife inhabitant ascends to the Fifth Dimension (Mental Plane). (1) Neither body persists and yet, as my out-of-body experience showed, “I” continue to exist.
Why do I not turn the spotlight on that one that I have discovered? I don’t examine the identified heart of myself. I am that I, that eye of awareness.
I turn my attention to the “I” that is always there.
