Some people still express confusion around Ascension as a sudden and a gradual process. Which is it? What mix of each? Does it vary per human?
They can’t quite wrap themselves around the idea that the two can go on as part of the same process. Past that point, yes, Ascension is an individual matter. And even that is not true because some events – such as our gradual heart opening – are happening for the whole planet.
But to look at the sudden and gradual nature of Ascension, we accept that volcanoes are mountains that erupt periodically. In between those eruptions volcanoes are silent. Then there is a gradual or sudden buildup of magma and an eruption occurs again.
We can point to any number of processes that are both gradual and sudden.
In the main, Ascension has to be gradual. Our bodies couldn’t take the strain of the higher levels of enlightenment (seventh-chakra Brahmajnana or God-Realization and open-heart Sahaja Samadhi, the culmination of our Ascension). We’d die and this is designed to be the first physical Ascension.
We’re intended to take our bodies with us – unlike Jesus or the Buddha who ascended upon shedding theirs.
So we have to pay attention to how much the physical body can take.
But that’s not all. Then there’s the understanding of the operator of the body. That too has to be seen to.
Some people may not know what’s happening if they experience a stage of enlightenment – a heart opening, cosmic consciousness, Brahmajnana, or Sahaja. They may freak and think they’re going nuts.
Did someone put LSD in their orange juice? What planet are they on and how come no one else here seems to know what I’m talking about?
We’re looking at a mass Ascension here, not just a physical one. The planet decided at the level of the collective consciousness to go en masse rather than with only a slim number as would have ascended on Dec. 21, 2012. Only a fraction of the planet would have had the requisite light then to make the jump.
We decided to ascend as a whole and that I believe that that required an entirely-different process. Now we have to slow things down and go up in stair steps.
And stair steps brings us to the sudden part of Ascension. There are actual enlightenment events that happen as the kundalini rises in the sushumna canal.
It reaches trigger point at the 4th chakra, 6th, 7th and spiritual heart beyond the Third-Dimensional chakra system. When it does, a sudden experience occurs. It creates a radical break, a discontinuity in thinking, feeling, and experiencing.
Everything about us feels elevated and expanded. We have realizations and remembrances. For a brief period of time, we experience life on the higher dimensions – usually Fifth to Seventh, when our hearts open and the inner tsunami of love sweeps us away. (1) The memory is indelible and, as Krishnamurti once said, we cannot help but work for it ever after. (1)
I was going to make this a footnote, but, no, it proves a point.
I had a truncated experience of Brahmajnana. I watched the kundalini sweep above me and descend into the seventh chakra. But there was no bliss and bliss is an inseparable part of the full experience.
Without bliss, it was like watching a horror flick of Mauna Loa erupting. A great river of gold roaring by you.
I asked Archangel Michael about that experience, and he commented:
Steve: Ordinarily you would experience Brahmajnana at that point but I felt that it had been muted, toned down.
AAM: Completely toned down. We want you very physically present. (2)
Can we not deduce from his answer that too much enlightenment can cause physical or spiritual symptoms, such as not being physically present. Too much enlightenment and I will hang up my keyboard and go for a Himalayan cave.
Again, I went to make this note a footnote, but it too is too central to the point being made here, that too much enlightenment too fast will cause complications. I stood in sight of the Self at Xenia Retreat on Sept. 18, 2018. That experience too was truncated.
Instead of being a light brighter than a thousand suns, the Self was more translucent. I wondered at that and had occasion to ask the Divine Mother abut it.
Steve: The experience at Xenia, Mother, was that truncated?
Divine Mother: Slightly, yes.
Steve: I had the thought [it was]. … The Light I saw should have been brighter than a thousand suns. The fact that it wasn’t suggests to me that the experience was truncated. …
DM: It was not as brilliant as possible, let us put it that way.
Steve: Alright… And again, the reason is to keep me in sync with my readers?
DM: It is to keep you in sync with your readers… But let me be very clear about that. If you had seen the light as it actually is, yes, a million, billion suns… You would have simply departed. …
We don’t mean die but you would have departed the life that you have designed – yes, with us, for yourself, for the service you are providing – you would have departed and simply said, “I do not need to do this. I will just simply sit in the bliss of love and good luck, everybody!” (3)
That would be the likely future for me if I went too far too fast: a breaking of my soul contract and the loss of a communicator.
Many other people would be disoriented and some might panic.
So, yes, there are sudden spiritual eruptions, interspersed with long periods of assimilation and integration. And preparation for the next spiritual eruption of consciousness and love. Think of these as stair steps on the stairway to heaven. (4)
No process I can think of is constant at a screamingly-high energy and neither is Ascension. It unfolds both gradually and suddenly watched over and moderated by our guides on the other side.

(1) “The really important thing is … the knowledge of God’s plan for men. For God has a plan, and that plan is evolution. When once a man has seen that and really knows it, he cannot help working for it and making himself one with it, because it is so glorious, so beautiful.” (J. Krishnamurti, At the Feet of the Master. Adyar: Theosophical Publishing House, 1974; c1910, 17.) [My emphasis.]

(4) My understanding is that, in early Christian terminology, “heaven” referred to what we’d call the Fifth Dimension, what the afterlife would call the Mental Plane. “Going to heaven” or “being saved” is the same as saying “ascending.”
