Women take pledge to fight gender discrimination as they form part of a 620 kilometers (388 miles) long ‘women’s wall’ in Thiruvanathapuram, Kerala, India,Tuesday, Jan.1, 2019. The wall was organized in the backdrop of conservative protestors blocking the entry of women of menstruating age at the Sabarimala temple, one of the world’s largest Hindu pilgrimage sites defying a recent ruling from India???s top court to let them enter.

One Texas county just swore in 17 black female judges

CNN)A new year brought the swearing-in of newly elected officials in Harris County, Texas, and among them were 17 black female judges.

The group of women, who were part of a local democratic campaign called “Black Girl Magic Texas,” first made history — and headlines — when they won their respective midterm elections in November. Together, they make up what is believed to be the largest group of black female judges to be elected at the same time in Harris County history.

Otherwise – and this has happened many, many times in human history – what happens is there is a belief [that] there is a healing, an accommodation, a remedy, and then the human collective tends to think, ‘Okay, now it is cleaned up. Now it is healed. Now it is done.’
But the core – the core issues of the collective, and of course of the individuals – has not been addressed, and therefore it simply settles in and it festers.
