Thanks to MB, I shall be taking a five-day writer’s retreat at a retreat center on one of the islands near Vancouver, Sept. 14-19. I can’t wait!
I can’t believe how simple and yet how powerful an instrument awareness is.
The act of simply being aware of something is actually more profound than it would appear at first sight.
It also involves stepping back, allowing, letting go of judgment, creating space, attending, etc.
Awareness itself, which we’re taught is neutral, is, in my experience, not neutral in its effects. It dissolves difficulties and issues. Paint a painful feeling with simple awareness and it lifts.
I have never come across anything as straightforward as awareness which has proven more useful to me.
Everyone adapts awareness to their own uses and interests. What I do in my adaptation is to look ever more deeply into myself.
It isn’t just a case of noticing extensively or broadly for me. It’s also a case of noticing intensively and deeply.
When I go as deeply within myself as I can, it’s never a surprise where I end up. I shouldn’t even need to say where that is. Naturally it’s love.
Remember those videos of a lake under the sea? A layer of salty brine, heavier than sea water? Here’s David Attenborough:
Love is like that. It lies below everything.
When I connect with it, it’s not game over. I don’t wander around like a lovesick fool.
Nor does simple connection with it mean the end of the road. I can go deeper and deeper into love, seemingly endlessly. And I’m never the worse for it. I’m always infinitely better.
The deeper I go, the higher the dimensionality. Just one level above us is eternal love and bliss. Tempting….
Typically we humans love variety. We tend to eat a different food every night. We do different things. We go on different vacations.
Love, bliss, joy, peace, and the other higher states are always the same and I can’t get enough of them. There’s never a time when love touches me and I say, uh, no, thank you; I had that yesterday. (2) Same with bliss and the rest: They ultimately and eternally satisfy.
More and more people will be feeling this type of love as the energies rise.
I’m feeling it at this moment. The minute it arrives and I recognize and acknowledge it, it becomes like a happy dog who – when recognized and acknowledged – starts avidly licking our fingers, hands, face, everywhere it can reach. With the dog – and with love – we have to put all else aside and just allow it and enjoy it.
When this love comes upon me, I know all is well. And I know that I am my Natural Self in this state. It’s as if I’m instantly reconstituted and reborn and refurbished, all in one, by the very touch of this type of love.
Isn’t it a clue that I never pass by an opportunity to discuss it? Doesn’t that give a hint about the deep level of satisfaction that awaits us?
I actually do know the answer to all our ills. The answer is to spend every minute of every day radiating love out to the world.
But would we do it?
(1) What Yogananda felt about God, I feel about higher-dimensional love:
“By contacting God in the world and in meditation you will find all your heart’s desires fulfilled. Then you will be a true man of renunciation, for you will find that nothing is more worth-while, more pleasant or attractive than the all-beautiful, all-satisfying, all-thirst-quenching, ever-new, joyous God.” (Paramahansa Yogananda, The Second Coming of Christ. Dallas: Amrita Foundation, 1979, 1, 17.)
