If the Natural Self is the default, the residuum, what’s left when all illusion falls away, then it follows that I should be able to return to it by simply letting go, letting go, letting go.
Whatever I succeed in letting go of has to be temporary. That which is eternal, I cannot let go of. It remains.
That which remains after all else is let go of has to be the Natural Self.
It isn’t a matter of getting somewhere. The Natural Self is where we come from.
All the rest is clothing on the Self. The Natural Self is naked of materiality.
In meditation recently, I’ve simply been telling myself to stop. Everything impermanent will stop (minus automatic body functions); everything eternal will keep on going. Quickest way to drop anything but the eternal.
The approach I’m following at this moment (I will use any that produce results) was followed long ago by the writers of the Vedas.
Eliminate the alternatives and what remains has to be the Self. “Neti, neti.” Not this, not this. The via negativa (path of negation).
A man saw a treasure in a field.
I glimpsed the Natural Self among the crowd of my thoughts and feelings.
He covered it up…
Illusion rushed back in again…
He sold all that he had….
I now want to let go (1) of everything temporary.
And bought the field.
Footnotes
(1) Mentally, emotionally only; no need any more to become a renunciate.
Besides, it isn’t meant that lightworkers in this generation become renunciates. We must remain in the focal range of the wider population if we’re to lead them in building Nova Earth.
