I’m very excited and happy to announce a new development! We now have a brand new way to accept community love and energy in the form of donations!
Behind the scenes, we’ve been working away trying to set up the easiest and most user-friendly ways to allow people to support our beloved platform and to donate to our continuing efforts to give back to the community through the micro-gifting of the Hope Chest.
For a long time now, the ability to donate has been available through PayPal, but for those who wanted to set up a subscription and give monthly and automatically by credit card, this wasn’t an option.
I want to thank Karen, John, and Alex for all the work (and frustration) it’s taken to get this up and working. It’s been needed and asked about for years and now we’ve got it. Hurray!
In order to make this process as easy and as clear as we can, Alex created the how-to below to assist anyone who wishes to join us in the flow of abundance and community we intend to keep on creating.
If this has been what you’ve been waiting for, or if you simply haven’t yet joined the community that supports one another in whatever ways we can, join us now on our way to creating a world that works for everyone, one step at a time. (1)
1. Instructions for one time debit or credit card donations:
If you wish to use a debit or credit card to make a one time donation, please click the Donate button of your choice on the main Hope Chest Donation page, and then click the continue link on the lower left hand side of the page.
This link will take you to the credit and debit card processing page so you can make your donation.
Please remember to use a credit or debit card that is not associated (linked) with your PayPal account, or your donation will be processed through your PayPal account.
The Hope Chest continues to support the ability to create a recurring donation via PayPal. Some readers had difficulties using PayPal and their recurring donation platform, so the team investigated the best way to create a simpler process that would support more options for readers to use for their donations.
2. Instructions for setting up a recurring donation using a credit or debit card:
To use a credit or debit card to set up a recurring donation (subscription), please fill out the form at the bottom of the main Hope Chest Donation page and choose a user name. You will be creating a membership profile, which will make it easy for you to edit your subscription (donation) amount at any time.
You will receive an email with a password for your membership, that you can change when you log in for the first time. Please keep your username and password for your records.
Once you set up your subscription (donation), it will simply appear on your credit card statement monthly unless and until you change it, by logging into the membership page and making any adjustments.
Simply log into the Hope Chest Membership page and click on the donate page to make adjustments as needed, then save your changes to implement them.
You will also receive a second email that tells you your membership is approved, and all the details of your subscription that you can keep for your records. That email is your confirmation that your recurring donation has been activated, and it will remain active unless you choose to change it.
Also, remember that the Hope Chest is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt non-profit charity in the US, so all your donations are completely tax-deductible. Thank you so much for your continued support and generosity.
Whether giving or receiving, may we all be blessed!

(1) The phrase originated with Werner Erhard:
“Each of us has the opportunity, the privilege, to make a difference in creating a world that works for all of us.” (Werner Erhard, A World That Works, 1980, cited at https://www.worldthatworks.org/.)
“Transformation does not negate what has gone before it; rather, it fulfills it. Creating the context of a world that works for everyone is not just another step forward in human history; it is the context out of which our history will begin to make sense.” (Werner Erhard – A Shot Heard Round the World: A World that Works for Everyone at https://www.scribd.com/doc/143329822/Werner-Erhard-A-Shot-Heard-Round-the-World-A-World-that-Works-for-Everyone.)
