Happy Saturday, dear friends. I have a favorite pair of shoes. They are warm and toasty clogs and I love them dearly, but I am always losing them.
I come into the house and take them off, because I love to be in stocking feet. It helps me feel connected to the earth. When I get ready to go out of the house into the wide world, I can never remember where I put them. I know they are here. I know they were on my feet when I came in, but I always find myself impatiently circling through my home, looking for where I left them. Invariably, they are under the dining room table, or in the bathroom, or by the front door.
I always giggle when I finally find them, mostly at my frustration at losing them yet again, when I know they are right there no matter what. It reminds me of my connection to Source. Sometimes, in the business of life, we begin to act unconsciously, and feel disconnected from Source. We wonder when, exactly, we lost our connection, and we scurry around trying to find it again. The truth is, we never lost the connection in the first place. It is always there, as strong as ever, but sometimes we lose focus. The minute we refocus into our heart space, the connection becomes evident, just like a cozy pair of shoes. We are always connected to Source, but part of the joy in this, is constantly rediscovering that connection.
Today we focus on the US and UK beefing up cyber security, in the wake of increased hacking events. We move on from there.
The UK and US to partner in “cyber-war games” to find gaps in security online.
Prime Minister, David Cameron of the UK, and President, Barack Obama, of the US, are meeting to discuss the climate of terrorism big government believes has taken control of the world stage.
One of the areas where the two countries will collaborate is joint cyber-war games against the countries’ respective online systems. Systems will be tested, using known hacking protocols, to see how safe the platforms really are. They hope to learn about any weaknesses in order to bolster security and avoid systems outages.
This article from BBC News discusses many aspects of the proposed “drill” and also brings up important questions about the intent of the project. Is it being conducted to protect corporations from hacks, such as the attacks against Sony recently, or is it to discover information about terror cells?

In a related story, the New York Post Twitter account was hijacked by a hacker this past week. The hacker put up fake tweets about the Chinese military launching missiles against the USS, George Washington. They also said that the Federal Reserve Bank was going into emergency meetings.
The tweets were taken down soon after they went up, and authorities are investigating how the hacker got into the account. The intent to create chaos and fear was evident, but the identity of the hacker or hacking group has yet to be discovered.

Moving on…
A majority of US public-school children are living in poverty.
When my family experienced long-term unemployment a number of years ago, our kids qualified for free breakfast and lunch at the public school. When we finally got back on our feet, I called the administrator who supervises this federal program for our school district, and thanked her personally for this valuable assistance. It really made a difference for our kids, and I wanted the school to know how thankful we were for obtaining this support for us. The lady was happy to hear that we were back on our feet, and I could really tell she cared about all her young charges that she had enrolled in the program.
It shocked me, today, to learn that over 51% of all students in public-schools have qualified for this federal program. This means that their families are living below the poverty level. Even though the US government indicates that the recession, which started in 2008, is over, and the economy is growing vigorously more US families are living in poverty than ever before.
Let’s hope that the debate about living wage jobs expands, so more US families can make ends meet without government support. Let’s hope children have enough to eat at every meal, especially in a country that throws away over 40% of the food produced here. As we move into the new energies, I am confident that solutions to support all beings will come to the forefront. Basic needs, for all, no matter the situation, must be met if we are to move into a world that works for everyone.
Majority of U.S. Public-School Children Are Living in Poverty by Chris Staiti for Bloomberg News
A feral Russian cat protects an abandoned baby.
Recently, a number of residents in an apartment complex in Russia, heard a cat screeching and meowing very loudly. The complex had adopted a feral pregnant cat, who had been living there for about 3 years. She had a box to sleep in on the stairs, and residents fed her.
When a tenant went to see what the cat was fussing about, they found a 6 week old baby boy laying with the cat in the cardboard box. The baby had been abandoned there, with a bag of diapers by its side. The cat had been keeping the baby warm, and remained by its side until authorities came to take him to the hospital.
The cat even tried to get into the ambulance with the baby. Upon arriving at the hospital, medical staff said the baby was healthy, and authorities would begin searching for his parents, or finding him a suitable home.
This story breaks my heart. As a mother, I cannot image abandoning my child, but I do understand that many people reach a point of desperation, and try to find a way out of their situation. I hope, in my heart, that wonderful beings will come forward to parent this beautiful angel baby, and I am thankful to this momma kitty for keeping him warm and safe until human helpers arrived.

And finally….
Guess who is king of the castle? Cats, obviously!
Having lived my entire life with both felines and canines, this video made me shake my head knowingly. Dogs can certainly be aggressive to cats, but generally, animals in the same home come to a mutual understanding.
Yes, the cats are almost always in charge, and they make this known in a variety of ways. Here is a cute compilation of cats who have stolen their dogs’ beds. I love when the dogs get sick of it, and finally turn the tables! Enjoy the good laugh, my friends.
