I’m not pushing Dr. Loyd’s healing techniques. I’m more interested in using it as a lead-in to a discussion of relaxation.
Let’s pretend for a moment that Dr. Loyd is right, that he has discovered a simple, physical mechanism for eliminating stress in the body (and I don’t know if he has or not, quite frankly, nor is it central to my discussion).
What has been occurring to me lately is that the most important thing to accomplish in the next two years for any of us as individuals is the art of being relaxed, using whatever techniques work for us.
Other words for “relaxation” might be peace, calmness, equanimity, serenity, tranquility. Are these not supreme spiritual states? We tend to think of relaxation as a luxury but is it not the aim of clearing upsets and completing issues?
If we were able to remain relaxed and calm during the tremendous changes of the next few years, would we not have accomplished the goal? I’ve asserted elsewhere that awareness varies inversely with tension in the body. When tension goes up, awareness goes down. Is not the aim of our work in the years ahead, among other things, to increase our awareness?
Around so many topics, what Alfred Webre calls “memes” have arisen – foreshortened, catchphrase conventional wisdom. Around the topic of relaxation has arisen a negative valence as if those who relax are somehow not serious about their wellbeing and security, not committed to their work, etc.
We’re all supposed to be hard drivers, willing to work endlessly and not shirk. But stress has become the disease of the age and more stress will not solve our problems, I think.
The celestial, spiritual and galactic plan for the coming years is not to increase our stress, but to relieve us of it so that we can concentrate on our spiritual growth and transformation. So the company of heaven does not agree with the conventional wisdom that endless stress is good.
But going against a meme is always a hard thing. To stand out from the crowd in society as we have constructed it is to risk being pummelled. It is frightening to make oneself available to ridicule.
Nevertheless that is the job that must be done. We have to depart from the conventional wisdom and recognize that toxic stress, not healthy stress, is in fact a bad thing and that it won’t help us with what will soon become our main work, which is applying ourselves to Ascension.
So I have a new openness to the topic of relaxation. I think it’s a skill that we will have to relearn as the age of drivenness subsides and a new age of peacefulness dawns.
