The Golden Age of Gaia and the WordPress software has size limitations on uploading files, either via the Media Library or inserting media into pages/posts. Currently the maximum file size that may be uploaded is 2 MB (Megabytes).
If you have larger files (even say 1 MB files), there is another option… and that is to use our Amazon S3 service. Use this option if you are mostly interested in providing a simple download link.
Here are the instructions for how to use this.
Prerequisite: Install Java
Your computer and web browser must be capable of running Java. It is very likely your computer already has this, but if not here is the download link:
Login to Amazon S3
User Name: Editors
Password: (ask us)
|1.||On the left side under Buckets, select “files.goldenageofgaia.com”|
|2.||To upload a new file, click the Upload button|
|3.||Click the Add Files button|
|4.||Select a file to upload|
|5.||Click Start Upload|
Publishing a File
By default, newly uploaded files are not public.
|1.||Select a file and click Properties|
|2.||In the Properties window, select the Permissions tab|
|3.||Click “Add more permissions”.
For Grantee, select “Everyone”.
Check ON the option for “Open/Download”
Getting the URL Link for the File
|1.||In the Properties window for a file, click on the Details tab|
|2.||Highlight the link, and press Ctrl-C (or ⌘-C on Mac) to copy it to the clipboard|
|3.||Paste the link (currently stored in the clipboard) to whatever location you like.|
