Democratization of Energy
The recent announcement of Elon Musk’s Tesla home battery, called Powerwall, could start an energy revolution. His aim to put a battery in every garage will go a long way in achieving this goal. The possibilities of practical home use will provide significant advantages to energy storage. Long term production will bring costs down, as demand for cost effective alternatives to fossil fuels and independence from the electrical grid, increases.
The Powerwall, is a lithium ion system that is a six by four foot box that can easily be installed and recharged via solar panels or wind turbines. By installing these systems in homes or condos, we effectively create a small power grid that is personalized and localized.
This is an obvious environmental win! Electricity created through solar or wind can be stored and generated where it’s needed. Storage of the electricity created, has long been the challenge of Gaia friendly energy production and this battery is the first of many that are providing innovative solutions. The future of renewable energy is to find a balance, to allow all to benefit from independence of an aging infrastructure.

New Incentives to Switch to Electric Taxis
In an approach to a world that works for everyone, China’s government and corporations are creating a win-win situation. The government launched an electric taxi project in 2010. The goal is to replace petrol engine taxis with electric vehicles. Slowly gaining momentum, they have overcome concerns regarding reliability, accessibility to charging stations and safety. Among taxi operators’ incentives to switch to the more environmentally friendly, electric vehicles, are subsidies and extended operator’s licenses. China’s transport ministry’s aim is to add buses using alternative fuel as well. Certainly with small steps we can make big differences.

Be an Aware Empath
I have to share this last article that struck a chord, although it covers more science, than technology. Staying with the theme of energy, this is an energy of a visual kind, auras. Energetic vibrations emanate from all objects, but are we open to this awareness? Auras and simple techniques on how to practice this visualization are suggested by Lynn Zambrano. A link to her website is provided at the bottom of the article for those who want further insight.

So I hope that many of the possibilities suggested in this weeks articles create a positive vibration for you. Among the changes that are effecting us all, we can see that indeed the goodwill and intentions we are creating is beginning to manifest.
With light and joy,
