Thank you to Carmen for this from laist!
After that storm came by and dumped some much-needed water on California last week, this weekend brought us back to our regularly scheduled programming of pleasant, sunny SoCal weather that makes our family back East quite jealous during this time of year. Don’t worry, though, more rain is on its way. And now that you have advance warning, don’t freak out.
The National Weather Service issued an alert this afternoon, saying that a storm system from the Pacific Ocean is expected to move into the region either late Thursday or early Friday, bringing with it the potential of “heavy rainfall.” This system will also be colder than the one that came through last week.
The storm is expected to drop about 1 to 3 inches in most areas, possibly in intense bursts of up to a half-inch per hour. This means that homeowners in the hills and recent burn areas will have to be cautious of mudslides. Oh, and the fact that its colder than the last storm means that there could be the possibility of isolated thunderstorms and snow at even lower elevations. By Friday morning, the snow level could call as low as 4,000 feet, meaning drivers might have to be careful due to wintry conditions in The Grapevine and Soledad Pass.
For these last few years, it seemed like that Albert Hammond song was spot on. This still isn’t that much, but hey we’ll take it.
