“They Told Me I was not Worthy”: Chris and Brian’s Wedding
Nancy B. Detweiler, The Way of Love Blog, Feb. 1, 2013
The internet affords us many privileges. One of them is the opportunity to meet fascinating people that we would not otherwise know and may never see in person. Thanks to my website and blog, I meet many people from all over the world.
We are eternal beings; therefore, our Souls incarnate multiple times into a variety of situations for the unique learning experiences each offers. Our Souls have inhabited male and female bodies. We all incarnate as gay – we all incarnate as straight. Why?
Because our spiritual journey back to Oneness with Father/Mother God requires that we balance the qualities of male and female within ourselves—that we become androgynous, spirit beings.
As we make this journey to androgyny, every one of us yearns for the same thing—to love and to be loved … to be recognized, respected, and appreciated for who we truly are.
For this reason, Maryland’s vote during the 2012 Elections to make same-sex marriage legal is to be celebrated.
Chris and Brian wanted their marriage—after being together for 15 years—to be both a celebration of their love and a celebration of the opportunity for all human beings to possess the same rights to marry the individual they love.
As a symbol of this celebration, they have chosen as their “framed wedding picture” a photo of many of the people with whom they worked to successfully win the right to same-sex marriage.
Chris and Brian have placed videos of their wedding on YouTube. I call to our attention the videos listed below. They are amateur videos, so view them for the emotional impact they will make on us and hopefully, the broadening of our view of life and its various expressions.
I pray that Brian’s story of his own experience of being gay in a very hostile environment will act as an epiphany of what we do to individuals when we refuse to accept them for who they are.
THE WEDDING & BRIAN’S STORY
GIFTS OF LOVE FROM TWO FRIENDS
I include these last two videos to give all of us an example of the high caliber of individuals against whom we discriminate when we deny the right to same-sex marriage. To watch Brian and Chris … their love for each other … the depth of love their friends demonstrate for them gives a very personal touch to discrimination and denial of human rights. Marriage is a celebration of love and every human being thrives on LOVE!
May viewing these four videos change our lives!
Thank you, Brian & Chris, for being the Love Beings that you are!
MAY WE CELEBRATE LOVE IN ALL THAT WE DO, SAY, & THINK
HENCEFORTH & FOREVERMORE!
