SB: Borghezio’s motion to the European Parliament for UFO declassification occurred last November.
Borghezio himself seems to have a colored past.
A member of Prime Minister Berlusconi’s far-right coalition, Borghezio is described by his anonymous Wikipedia biographer as a xenophobic, opposing the “islamization” of Europe, and a man given to flamboyant actions and, on occasion, apparently, violence. He’s been the subject of parody on Italian television.
Not exactly the man to command an overwhelming degree of respect as, say, a Steven Greer is in the U.S. or a Paul Hellyer in Canada.
Nonetheless, he has placed the UFO issue before the European Parliament.
Here is an article from a UFO site placing Borghezio’s action in context. I’ll follow it with a few other items on the man.

Whether or not, disclosure of the extraterrestrial presence occurs on either November 17th or 27th, of this year [i.e., 2009, the date that David Wilcock and Bill Ryan referred to at the Barcelona Conference], the process leading towards the inevitable revelation is speeding up at an accelerated rate.
On Sunday, we learned that the Vatican had called in expert astrobiologists and astronomers to not only study the possibility and implications of extraterrestrial life, but to make preparations for it.
This week the Vatican’s Pontifical Academy of Sciences is holding its first major conference on astrobiology, the new science that seeks to find life elsewhere in the cosmos and to know how it started on Earth… the unlikely gathering of prominent scientists and religious leaders shows that some of the most tradition-bound faiths are seriously contemplating the possibility that life exists in myriad forms beyond this planet. – The Washington Post.
News reaching the ALIEN Project today, is that a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) and leader of Italy’s Northern League party Mario Borghezio is pressing ahead for full disclosure of classified UFO and alien documents in the European Parliament.
It is now that we hear about the initiative by Mr Mario Borghezio,… MEP, to make a “European commission on UFOs” in the European Parliament. The Honorable Borghezio will fight for the declassification [of] UFOs in all countries, including Italy. – Central UFO Taranto (CUT).
Borghezio, is also part of Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi’s far right coalition. …
It is now becoming quite obvious that we are witnessing an unprecedented effort to prepare the way for the announcement of the existence of extraterrestrial life.
I hope to have more on this development in the coming days. So, stay tuned.
SB: Well, as we know, nothing has materialized yet.
Here are a few assorted items on Bhorgezio demonstrating his xenophobia:

Mario Borghezio: “thousands of fanatical Muslims praying outside Milan Cathedral is an act of intimidation, a slap in the face for the city of Milan…”
A provocation? It most certainly is.
But its more than provocation: call it Islamic conquest, jihad against Italy…
Rome: A member of Italy’s anti-immigration opposition party condemned yesterday the weekend prayer by thousands of Muslims outside Milan’s Cathedral in protest against Israel’s military offensive in Gaza.
“The fact that Muslim extremists transformed the Cathedral square into an outdoor Mosque (constitutes) an incredible provocation,” ANSA news agency quoted Mario Borghezio, European deputy with the Northern League, as saying.
“The prayer to Allah recited by thousands of fanatical Muslims is an act of intimidation, a slap in the face for the city of Milan which must remain Christian,” he added.
(snip/snip)
Tonight officials in Milan and Rome said they were investigating the rally and would be speaking to organisers as they had not been given permission to stop in front of Milan Cathedral during the rally.
Mario Borghezio, an MEP with Italy’s anti immigration Northern League party, stormed:’The fact that Muslim extremists transformed the Cathedral square into an outdoor Mosque constitutes an incredible provocation.
‘The prayer to Allah recited by thousands of fanatical Muslims is an act of intimidation, a slap in the face for the city of Milan which must remain Christian.’
Just before Christmas Mr Borghezio had also hit out at a Catholic priest who had placed a model mosque complete with minaret in his church Nativity scene.
SB: Apparently Bhorgezio also set alight the pallets of some immigrants sleeping under a bridge in Turin. Not exactly a white knight. I acknowledge that I know nothing of the Italian political scene and so any further comment from me would be inappropriate.
