ModeratorHello, fellow forum members! If any of you have spiritually oriented blogs and would like them to be featured in an upcoming article for the Golden Age of Gaia blog, please post the link here and I will check it out. And assuming all looks copacetic (and you’re not trying to sell insurance or something😘), I will include your blog in the article.
“Spiritually oriented” as I use it here is a broad category. Basically, if you cover any of the kinds of topics GAoG covers, that should be fine. Ascension / Enlightenment, Accountability, Disclosure, channelings, awareness writing…you get the idea. Even fiction or poetry and other creative writing that’s related to our topics, it doesn’t have to be strictly nonfiction / current events. (You know I love fiction and poetry.)
I know both Don and Julien have posted links to their blogs and that’s what gave me the idea.
Don and Julien, if you would please post your blog links here, that would be great so we have them all in one place.
Thanks!
Love,
:c💓💞🌈 -

My blog is https://meditative.space/. It’s currently 2 articles long, mind, and both were posted as threads on this forum as well.
I don’t have any writings I’d like published on the GAoG blog as of Now, but thank you very much for this kind invitation!Loving Kindness,

ParticipantThanks for the thread, Catherine. I am in the beginning phases of starting a blog. I am going to call it:
“Spiritual Awakening Today”
“Your Guide to Increased Happiness and Personal Fulfillment”.
I have a wealth of writings that I am going to post, all relevant to what is going on in today’s world, at least from my perspective. I don’t know the first thing about having a blog, so it’s a challenge trying to figure out how to create it. I’m using WordPress and I keep reading that it’s “easy”, but they must be from a different planet. It’s not easy at all in my opinion. The blog is not up and running yet, but I will post that information later.
And if anyone is wondering, the stuff I write about…nobody needs the information more than me. I am my #1 customer, and when I follow the advice I give out, my life works! But it’s not always easy to do that because life on Earth is pretty darn confusing and difficult at times and we all get stuck. Hopefully some of the information I will be imparting on my blog will help.

ModeratorHi Pat, I had to laugh at when you follow your own advice, life is surprisingly easy, and when you ignore it, it’s another story! One of the authors I worked with years ago wrote this amazing book with all these wonderful well-being tips but by the time I worked with her for a couple of weeks I realized she didn’t follow her own advice and her life exemplified that. It has since made me look with a jaundiced eye upon a lot of the self-help books out there.
Please do follow up with the URL when you have it up and running.
I am a nincompoop as far as WordPress is concerned and I think when they say “easy,“ they’re talking about for digital natives, i.e., people a lot younger than us.
I don’t have any idea if you might have a budget for this but I do have a friend who teaches WordPress and she would probably be able to give you enough information and coaching to get your site launched without tearing your hair out. She is a kind and patient person, and a dear friend. Let me know if you’re interested and I will private message her information to you.
Thanks!
Love,

ParticipantHi Pat,
Would’ve great to read your blog and see your many gained wisdoms 😉. Also hope you will consider leave the comments section open, so your own energy can mingle and interact with your readers.
And to both you and Catherine … Yes, a great confirmation when it comes to “understanding and practicing” stuff in general. In my past life as a manager I learned a lot theory to change other peoples behavior, giving them uplifting feedback and encouragement to train themselves. This understanding was my favorite …
Unconsciously – Incompetent
Consciously – Incompetent
Consciously – Competent
Unconsciously – CompetentA loop for people to train themselves (with the help and observation according to the rules of feedback from others) to alter their behavior.
In a sense it is still a good one, also to learn yourself to get out of unknown or automatic routines or reactive behavior.Anyway, the only spiritual path we ultimately are all on, is to master self 😉😘🤗

ParticipantHi Pat,
Congratulations on getting started with your new blog! 😊
If you need some tech advice on WordPress, web hosting and so on, I’d gladly be of some help, through GAoG private messages or emails if you wish. I’m not a WordPress wiz myself but I’ve created and maintained a few and am mostly used to it.
I guess it only appears “easy” compared to writing the whole website code (html + css + php/javascript + mysql + … 😵) as we used to about a decade ago, plus being born in the IT generation is a definite help… it’s relative!in Loving Kindness,

ParticipantJulien, thank you for the offer of assistance. Today I was sent an email by Bluehost about how to add your first page. And so I followed the instructions and got that done. It’s my “About” page.
Here’s my issue, I’ve created websites before using templates, and once you make changes you can see a preview of your whole website. But I don’t see that’s how it works with WordPress. So I’m wondering if the theme I chose is the right look for my blog. I’d sure like to see what it looks like with the page added. Do you have to wait until you have all the pages you want to publish together before you publish them?
And how do you see the menu bar where the “About” link goes? Anyway, if you do have any comments I would appreciate your insight. PM is fine. Thanks Julien.

ParticipantHahaha 😂😁
Just feel what is behind the words … as you know by now. See people looking for initiating something new. You all have this desire for a reason! Could be some of you share a desire to “express beyond” a current horizon?
So what are you after … who do you try to reach … what is limiting you now, other than the technical stuff?
Both Julien and me too, could assist you with that. But if you desire to create a spiritual blog, maybe you could agree on a several author concept like GAoG style, but maybe some variations specific for you?
I don’t know and I don’t have an agenda. However, I know some great writers here!! Just thinking out loud, asking questions openly. 🤔🤭😁

ParticipantI thought Ralph meant to join forces as far as helping each other figure out how to start their blog. Such as, Julien sent me a long instruction sheet about how to use WordPress, and I could share that with Catherine or anyone else who wants to start a blog with WordPress. But as far as working on our blogs, that needs to be done separately. We each have our own motivations for wanting to blog.
And I want to thank Julien for the information. So I need to ask you Julien, do you do this type of work for a living? You are very knowledgeable it seems to me. I spent hours today working on the blog and all it got me was google-eyed and frustrated. I have created many websites using templates, but this WordPress stuff is confusing as heck. They don’t make it easy. And even though there is all kinds of help on the internet, that doesn’t help much either. But I’ve already paid the money so I’m going to stick with it. Tomorrow is another day for working at it.

ParticipantJulien, I managed to get a home page going, with a Home link and an About link. And I like the color, but I would rather have an image than just the plain color.
But for right now, at least I have a basic blog up and running. What I would like to do next is decrease the size of the page, and make the header narrower and smaller, and also the blogging area. That’s what I’m working on now, but nothing is working so far. Any suggestions?

Yes you are published. Visited your site and did read the about … liked it too 😜
Equally love the the theme color you chose. Never good at identifying colors and their name, but to me this is a purple-ish color. As I am correct, it relates to “change” and Saint Germain.
Good luck

ParticipantThanks Ralph. That color is something that I feel opens people up and puts them in an inspirational mood. When I look at it, it goes directly to my heart, and I’m hoping that’s what it does to others. However, this is only my first attempt and it’s all subject to change as I get more experienced at handling WordPress.
I’d like to qualify who my blog is for, really…the type of people I desire to reach. They are Jane and Joe Public who have been going through the covid experience and have been spiritually awakened to a new level for them. They are aware of more and are seeking more from life than what they had. Something better, and they know it’s out there. Perhaps need some guidance in creating it.

The about is good and what you describe here sounds like a nice vision, as in the direction you like to create and who to create for. Perfect basic steps Pat.
Also, maybe as you like to enhance the header with a nice picture … in line with your current color … take a look at the picture I used today in the emptiness thread … if you like it, it’s free without copyright and can be found here in different resolutions small to big.

ParticipantHi Pat and friends,
Congratulations on getting your blog online and published!
I don’t normally do this kind of work for a living, although I’ve made a few professional websites lately, for free. Let’s say I pretty much grew up in front of a computer (my father was an informatics engineer), which helps in that regard… if not in others 😅I’m not sure your theme allows for the kind of “easy” customization you’re looking for, at least not in its free version and maybe not in the paid one either. It’s possible though. I had a closer look and am going to send you instructions through PM so that you don’t have to switch themes.
Ralph, I’d certainly consider joining forces on my blog if someone is interested! I only created this WordPress so that I could host my loooong first article, to be honest 😂 Anyway, it’s up and running and I wouldn’t mind sharing it with other writers in some way.

ParticipantThanks for the link Julien. And thanks for your offer of assistance. That is kind of you. If you go to my blog you will see that I chose a template to work with that actually looks good on phones and tablets. I couldn’t get that code to work in the template I was using after hours of trying, so I gave up and am going with the mountains and lake and trees theme. I want to focus on the writing part more, and the author page. That page is still in development…I’m not sure all I want to add there.
This blog idea is neat! You can express yourself anyway you like. All those who are anticipating doing a blog, there is and will be some good insight to be found on this thread. I have an idea to keep a list of all the things I encountered that you will probably encounter, and what worked to get through it. It’s an idea….

ModeratorHi Pat, it’s very fun for me to watch you and Julien and Ralph and anyone else who joins in discussing the creation of blogs. And thanks to both you and Julien for the public domain photo website links.
I love your idea of creating a list of what you’ve encountered and how you worked things out. Sue Grafton used to keep a journal for every book she wrote, discussing plot and character and problems and solutions. She published some of them on her website and they were really interesting to read.
You probably already do this, but it would be easiest to keep your list in electronic form. It’s so much easier to make handwritten notes but then if you have to go to the trouble of transcribing it it might never get done. At least that’s been my experience.

ParticipantI think what I’ll do is post information that might help others, and allow them to write down what feels important to them. I don’t want to make a list, I have enough to do, writing these articles.
I will say that finding a template to work inside is the easiest way to go. It is already formatted to look good on PCs, tablets and mobile phones. You can change the heading photo in many of the templates, but I ended up using the image that came with the template I chose.
Do you want two columns, or three on your blog? Decide that. Then choose a template that fits your needs. I spent hours and hours looking at the templates for WordPress. It’s no easy task. But Julien said that it’s worth your time to find the right template for you, and I agree.
I went through BlueHost and am using WordPress for my blog. It’s the most popular format, I guess. Learning how to use WordPress is a challenge, but the more you tool around with it the better you get.
And it helps to have a sister-in-law who has a Ph.D brain and who is very experienced in the things you are trying to do with a blog, who keeps challenging you to be better and do better than you think you can.

The Author page is a work in progress, but the articles are pretty much set. Except today I posted an article on “posture” and I think I’ll be tweaking that one tomorrow.
Tip: What I like to do when starting a website is to put it up on the Internet. And post stuff. When you see your work on the Internet it has more impact on you, even if you are still in the process of modifying everything. And let people know about it because you get good tips from family and friends.

I also agree it’s very different to see work published online rather than just on your own computer. It’s been revelatory for me to be publishing on GAoG since February. ParticipantYou were ahead of your time? Can you pull them out now and do something with the articles? Yes, that must have felt really good to be published like that.
When someone values your work, that’s the biggest high. They are valuing YOU and validating YOU, and what better feedback is there?
What I’m starting to like about blogging is that what I am feeling today, or what I think is important today to ponder, that’s what I can write about and share with others on my blog. And if it has value, if the message feels valid and real to the reader, they are going to come back for more. That’s what you do, you snare your readers in by posting valuable information, and at the same time you are helping them to inspire themselves and grow. And that is intoxicating.

ModeratorI have a llloooottttttt of old fiction. The published pieces weren’t articles, but short stories, and one, a personal essay. And yes, I could certainly publish them on my own blog, now.
What’s kind of funny, I was cleaning out some ancient paperwork and came across my publisher correspondence file. I had a letter from the Wisconsin Review (very hard to get accepted, it is, or at least was, a premier lit mag) accepting a story and then later I got another letter, sorry, they changed their minds.
I’d forgotten all about that. When I saw it recently, I remembered that I pretty much gave up after that. I was SO excited to be accepted by such a prestigious journal, and utterly crushed by the acceptance followed by rejection.
Yay for Internet and publishing ourselves!!

ParticipantHappy Sunday Friends,
I have been working hard on my blog and dealing with real life challenges, so I haven’t been able to visit here lately. I have several articles up on the blog now that I wrote fresh. I also added a “link” page, and today I was able to add a thumbnail photo of me on the “about” page. I worked on that for several hours yesterday and was unsuccessful. But today I found the right information and was able to insert a small photo. I intend to have a more professional photo in the future, but for now, this one will do.
My Ph.D. brain sister-in-law has been helping me tremendously with ideas, experience, and support, along with my brother who is very smart and is also giving me good advice. They are my biggest supporters, along with my sister and her husband.
As I work on the blog I am getting a feel for new things I want to add, and I’m just letting my imagination wander. You can express yourself in so many ways and let yourself feel free. You learn from feedback, so not everything you want to do is a good idea, but you just keep at it.
I think this WordPress platform is good to use, but hard to learn. I spend a lot of time on the Internet searching for instructions on how to do the things I want to do in WordPress. Some just don’t make sense. Some instructions are hard to follow. But evidently it is the most popular platform for blogs in the world, so you can’t argue with that. If you start your own blog, just keep plugging away. The answers that you need can be found somewhere.
It was nice to get feedback from my friends on the forum here, including Steve Beckow. There is still much to do, but this is a start. Thank you all for your support and for being my friend. 💕
