After a couple weeks of heavy snowfall, the snow’s actually starting to melt here in the Rocky Mountains. How’s it in your corner of the globe? Hoping your weekend was grand! Upward and onward, let’s start our week off with policy concerning genetically modified foods.
Politics, Health & Ethics: Do we really need non-bruising apples?
When is enough …enough? How long will our government continue to support silly unneeded investments, all the while disregarding our desires? Well, I guess, unfortunately, as long as the corporate cabal is in power, huh? In other words, our government makes some very questionable decisions, especially those that support corporations rather than the people.
When there is no need for a genetically modified apple which unnaturally does not bruise, then why is it being supported when there is documentation after documentation of adverse reactions, or side effects, of GMO foods? What’s wrong with an apple that bruises? In nature, apples bruise. In nature, people bruise. How does making an apple to NOT bruise a good thing?
What types of chemical additives or genetic modifications must be used in order to fabricate a non-bruising apple? And then why would anyone want to eat said apple? Isn’t it easy enough to not eat the bruised part, or simply cut that part off? Isn’t this thinking goofy? Isn’t the time and energy our government spends on these non-essential issues of life goofy? When will they spend time on necessary facets of life, instead of wasting our hard-earned tax money on nonsense, especially nonsense that has been shown to be bad for our health?
“This product is completely unnecessary and poses numerous risks to apple growers, the food industry, and consumers,” said Andrew Kimbrell, executive director for Center for Food Safety. “For USDA to turn a blind eye to these risks for such an inessential technological ‘advance’ is foolish and potentially costly.”
Of course, our government has once again sided with the corporations in allowing them to keep such apples unidentified. Doesn’t this smell fishy to you? Isn’t this clear-as-day that they are working together to save money, to keep us uninformed, and in my humble opinion …to keep us sick by supporting them in feeding us GMO foods?
Aren’t apples found often in baby food??? How are we to monitor that such modified apples do not find their way into the mouths of babes? “Pre-sliced apples are a frequently recalled food product. Once the whole fruit is sliced, it has an increased risk of exposure to pathogens. Since browning is a sign that apples are no longer fresh, ‘masking’ this natural signal could lead people to consume contaminated apples, which is why some call it the ‘botox apple.’”

International Politics: Will a new relationship between America and Iran settle the Middle East?
Iran’s General Qassem Suleimani told the official media in Tehran: “Today we see signs of the Islamic Revolution being exported throughout the region – from Bahrain to Iraq and from Syria to Yemen and North Africa.”
“And that is precisely what Mr Netanyahu and the Sunni rulers of the Gulf most fear. They believe that a nuclear deal between Iran and America would herald a fundamental change in the balance of power in the Middle East. In particular, they think that an agreement to settle the nuclear issue would implicitly convey American acceptance of Iran’s domination of swathes of the region.”
Interestingly, while Netanyahu addressed Congress last week, Suleimani stood in Iraq. “What invisible thread joined these two implacable foes, the Iranian general and the Israeli leader?”
“The nuclear issue is only a symptom of the real disease,” says Jonathan Eyal, the head of security studies at the Royal United Services Institute.
“For all their formal enmity with the ‘Zionist entity,’ Saudi Arabia and the other Gulf rulers now share Israel’s fears. All of them suspect that Iran will make tactical concessions over its nuclear programme in order to receive a free pass from America to stir yet more turmoil in the Middle East.”
But is this really a valid concern? Is a deal imminent? “America negotiates with Iran on the nuclear issue as a member of the ‘P5 plus 1’ – a contact group consisting of the five permanent members of the Security Council plus Germany. All the parties have set a deadline of March 24 for a political agreement on the nuclear programme, with another three months to fill in technical details. And the signs are that significant progress has indeed been made.”
International Politics: Corruption continues to be revealed …now throughout Brazil.
“On Friday night, Brazil’s Supreme Court released its list of 54 politicians and former politicians involved in the decades old fraud at Brazil’s state run oil giant, Petrobas. The move comes at the request of Attorney General Rodrigo Janot who asked for the names of all public figures being investigated in the so-called Operation Car Wash case be made public.”
“What Janot’s list shows is that it is the Progressive Party that treats Brazil as a banana republic where kleptocracy is tolerated by the masses. Each and every one of these lawmakers are facing possible prosecution for political bribery and abuse of powers.”
This statement interests me: “…where kleptocracy is tolerated by the masses.” That’s quite a statement. Granted, it may be true …I’ve never been to Brazil; however, most of me surmises something a little different to be more accurate: The government may be stealing from its people, yet I highly doubt that it’s “tolerated,” as this story claims.
Rather, people may turn their head because it seems nothing can be done about it. And yes, maybe people have been conditioned to “look the other way.” Again, I don’t know specifically about Brazil, but I do know that the human spirit wants to be in integrity and typically is in integrity, save circumstances that force one to lose standards of honesty and good will, which can and does happen in this world.
Well, truth be told, no matter what country, I’m sad and sorry to hear about politicians choosing to be out of integrity –that part stinks. The flipside is that we are exposing more and more lower vibrating areas around our world that clearly need a cleansing …go humanity! I am grateful to watch corruption at all levels in all countries become exposed. This brings us closer and closer to our ultimate freedom and our destiny: Ascension from these lower vibrations of life in the 3rd Dimension.
