As of middle June, much of the Midwest is either dry or in drought according to the U.S. Drought Monitor, raising the prospects of a serious drought.
While a higher risk may exist in 2023 than in most years, a continuing drought and lower yields is not a foregone conclusion. However, farmer decision-making becomes more difficult as dry weather continues.
