We’ve had some lovely summer weather here in the wilds of New Jersey, and this past Saturday was a picture perfect example. We had no particular plans for the holiday weekend, and I’m sure that many can relate to how it can feel sometimes to not have fun things to do with people you love. It’s best to fend off any low vibe thoughts around that and just find ways to do whatever we do with the highest level of enjoyment we can bring to it.
Although I have to say, making the sameness into Sacredness takes focus that I haven’t always got juice for.
Anyway, it was late on Saturday afternoon when my daughter came in from the backyard all excited and telling me that I needed to go outside and listen, because our neighbor was having a party, and there was live music!
What? This is a quiet street, and now that the trees are dressed in the full and deep green of summer, we can’t even see through the woods to their house. I stepped onto the deck and heard the Moody Blues wafting through the leaves…and it sounded really good!
There were cars lining the street that there are literally never cars parked on, and the music filling the air pretty much just changed the game for us. It didn’t take long to set ourselves up on the deck; but first, we both dashed away to don our party robes and bling. Gotta set the mood and throw ourselves into it with full hearts!
I’m only sharing this story because we were gifted with a joyful experience out of the blue. Our plans shifted on a dime because of it, and there was no doubt about taking the opportunity to enjoy the energy of what was happening on the other side of the woods next door.
It wasn’t just the music that was so uplifting, although they were a really great band! Maybe the highlight for me, probably for both of us, was when they played the long version of Pink Floyd’s Comfortably Numb. The lead guitarist was truly talented, and we thoroughly enjoyed her guitar solo. We give full marks to the lead singer for both enthusiasm and effort, if not in perfection of pitch. He really gave it his all, and we loved him for it.
In fact, the whole experience was a major frequency bump and gift from the Universe that just left us being in love with the band, our neighbors, and every person over there screaming and hooting after each song. We added a few (well, quite a few) hoots and “WOO!”s ourselves. People having fun together and enjoying one another’s company is a great energy to be near…and there was live music!
Anyway, maybe the point of this share is just for us to be ready and willing to shift gears at a moment’s notice if we’re wanting to maximize our potential enjoyment of what’s apparently now a hair’s breadth away…
