The Hope Chest has some news to report. We’ve been on a journey with the IRS, which may finally have reached its destination.
This is an excerpt from the last update that came from Casey Plummer, then President of the Hope Chest, at the beginning of 2014.
“Just a quick update on the Hope Chest and its application for 501(c)(3) tax exempt status. We filed in August of 2013, the initial application and a couple of tax returns. They sent us a letter in October asking for additional information about one of the yearly tax returns, to which we responded.
“No word back on the approval of the application, and we are still waiting. The IRS indicates that this process may take up to 6 months, and that looks to be the case here.”
A few days ago I went to collect the mail from the post office box and noticed a letter from the IRS.
“We are pleased to inform you that upon review of your application for tax exempt status we have determined that you are exempt from Federal income tax under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Contributions to you are deductible under section 170 of the Code. You are qualified to receive tax deductible bequests, devises, transfers or gifts under section 2055, 2106 or 2522 of the Code.”
I believe our receipt of this IRS letter of acceptance for tax-exempt status is the result of angelic intervention. I think that Archangel Michael stood behind the chair of the person that approved our application and whispered in that person’s ear that it was the right thing to do to certify the Hope Chest as tax-exempt.
This journey took a year and saw much discussion in board meetings and several submissions of documents and explanations of our activities and functions. But at journey’s end, it was like a white dove’s feather in the wind, pure ease and grace.
Our legal-entity needs as the Hope Chest have not only been met, but surpassed in an exceedingly loving way. Thank you very much, Archangel Michael. You rock!!!
I’d like to address all potential deep-pocket donors and high-net-worth individuals that read our wonderful Golden Age of Gaia blogsite on a daily basis.
We’re now ready to partner and participate with you to bring to Gaia the abundance of funds necessary to build a world that works for everyone.
In the first instance, that consists of administering funds available to assist general lightworkers that write in to the Hope Chest with needs of funds for rent, food, utilities and such and to assist the Nova Earth Team to continue our work on the blogsite, radio programs, charity, etc. But we know this is only the beginning.
We look forward to the opportunity to meet with you and discuss the wonderful works we can achieve together.
