My life is about to go through a radical transformation. And, if I have anything to do with it, so is the life of all of us.
I apologize to anyone affected by this noisy birth with me and will make explanations later but for now I must bang on the anvil.
What I’m seeing at this moment is so big, so necessary, and so personally overwhelming that I don’t know where to start. I don’t know what to do and don’t know how I and everyone else who joins in will accomplish it.
And please know, there’s nothing more in it for me than service. Serving the Divine Mother, serving the angels, serving you, serving transformation. I don’t seek reward. There’s nothing I need other than to serve.
Where to begin?
I thought that we could avoid as a society, as a civilization even, going into certain areas of life, certain areas of learning. But chance events have shown me that it’s unavoidable.
I say what follows on my own recognizance, on my own integrity and wherewithal as a sovereign citizen of Planet Earth. I say this in a haphazard way, as the ideas occur to me, not pretty, not complete, but as a burning energy that will no longer remain inside of me.
In my view, we have to go through a process as a society that in the 1960s and 1970s people went through as individuals. We as a society have to recover the skills we knew in these movements – the awareness of our acts, numbers and rackets, the ability to address and resolve conflict, the willingness to expose ourselves till we ache, the willingness to assume responsibility for our world.
We need to take back what we knew in the women’s movement, the counterculture, the peace movement, encounter groups, est, eastern spirituality.
We need to come alive. We need to reclaim our rights. We need to take to the streets, take to the internet, take to our world, peacefully this time, responsibly, but in overwhelming numbers.
We need to take back the night, bid goodbye to corruption, open the gates – of the city, of our own personal prisons, of our hearts.
We need to actualize all that we glimpsed in the Sixties and Seventies and we need to actualize it now.
The people of the Sixties and Seventies dropped out and tuned in, let it all hang out, told it like it is, and generated a whole new way of being – an authentic way, a daring way, a revolutionizing way, a transformative way.
They came together in huge numbers to revolutionize a whole society’s way of life. They made mistakes. They became violent and burnt banks. They got lost in the drug culture. They stumbled and sometimes put nothing viable in place of the culture they usurped.
For the most part they did it peacefully, and it’s crucial now that we do it peacefully too. There was wreckage and residue whereas for us there must be none. Ours must be a world that works for everyone, as Werner Erhard pointed to. We must do it with fearlessness, determination, but with love.
They refused to go along with the unworkable conventions of a conformist society – and so must we.
They refused to accept inequality, hobbling norms, lies, manipulation, corruption, and everything else that did not work – and so must we.
They were born of the civil rights movement. They transmuted into a growth movement of encounter groups, circuit riders, awareness workshops, meditation, spirituality – on and on the ripples went.
They welcomed the Age of Aquarius sixty years before it came, led by people like David Spengler, Ram Dass, Timothy Leary, Terence Mackenna, on and on. They built what Marilyn Ferguson called “’the movement that has no name’ – a loose, enthusiastic network of innovators from almost every discipline, united by their apparent desire to create real and lasting change in society and its institutions.” (2)
She dubbed it the “Aquarian Conspiracy.” (2) It was called the Hippie Movement, the Growth Movement, Western Spirituality, the Human Potential Movement. It derived a great deal of energy from a reformist impulse, from a desire to breathe free, from women’s insistence on respect and equality. (I anticipate that women will lead this new version of it.)
Let me stop here for now to preserve your willingness to listen. I may be publishing prolifically in the next few days. I may not. I may ramble. I may sleep because I’m already stretched to my limits.
This energy has been birthed in me. The jack won’t go back in the box. This is the work that needs to be done. And I’ll have to have partners, and not partners who consult me because even that would bury me in emails.
No, YOU have to take up this work and you have to take it up on your own. And you have to take it up in a new spirit, according to the new paradigm which you know is the divine qualities. (Just search this site.)
But take it up we must.
To all my existing colleagues: if you see a radical departure in my commitments and way of being, it’s not personal. It has nothing to do with you. You’re doing fine. Keep on with the work that you’re doing. We need it.
To others with whom I began projects even as late as yesterday, please give me the latitude to reboot. Please allow me to just plow on in this direction. If you don’t hear from me, this new work is what I must pursue. In some cases, I won’t even have time to check back with you. I apologize and say as well: it’s not personal.
I have to begin here and I have to begin now.
